  • Any Way To Fix A Camera Pan With An Uneven Speed In Avid?

Hi, I'm wondering if there's a relatively painless way to do this in Avid (or even After Effects or Nuke)... I'm working on footage with a long pan, about 10 seconds. The camera operator sort of stop/started in a few parts. The speed varies and it is very hard to fix by hand, by removing...

  • FilmScribe XML Illegal Characters

I am using FilmScribe to export an XML file to make our VFX turnovers faster, easier, and more reliable, but there is a hidden character at the end of each line that prevents it from being properly parsed. Has anyone else run across this and know of a fix? When I try to import the XML file into anything...

  • Possible to create a running date/calendar counter?

Hi Forum Friends, I'm editing a 10 mintue timelapse project that tracks a construction site over the course of 10 years. The piece is being edited chronologically. So that the audience can get a sense of the passage of time, the director wants to include a counter at the bottom of the screen to continuously...

  • Remove All Nests In a Track?

Hello friends! I was wondering if there was a way to remove all submaster nests in a track? Specifically, all our VFX in a reel is in a submaster per VFX shot. The uppermost track within each nest is our final VFX shot, which DI conform to our final DPX files via EDL. What I would like to be able to...

  • 'heavy VFX' in-house in MC? general discussion

I just haven't seen alot concerning this matter, truely using the tools that are available in MC. I take it that most of the time people will send their projects to DS or AE for a lot of complicated stuff anyways... but what about for a person like me (young, a student), who likes my stuff being...

  • Export for VFX

I'm a VFX artist and I'm not too familar with the Avid workflow so I was hoping somebody could help me out. I need to bring footage from Avid into Nuke or AE in an uncompressed format. The guy I'm working with has the footage on his computer and he cut it on Avid MC. He wants me to rebuild...

  • Re: DNxHD or Uncompressed HD for VFX?

I wish I could do the same. I finally took a look at our DNxHD 175X greenscreen shots in After Effects compared to the uncompressed ones from FCP, and there's a noticeable difference on the edges. The matte from the uncompressed QTs were much cleaner so we'll at least have to provide that version...

  • Re: DNxHD or Uncompressed HD for VFX?

Thanks, Randall. That's pretty much what I figured. We won't be filming out, rather finishing at 175 and laying off to SR. Does anyone who deals with visual effects on a daily basis in AE have a preference between DNxHD resolutions vs uncompressed? Is there any draw back or more work involved...

  • DNxHD or Uncompressed HD for VFX?

I am curious what type of workflows others are using to deliver shots to a VFX vendor for television and whether I can simplify our process at all. I'm working on a show where our current workflow (very simply) is as follows: 1. Shoot multicam on HDCAM 2. Edit sequence in Avid (Adrenaline MC v4.0...
