    Mac or PC - it does not matter. The core components of both are exactly the same (Intel CPU, Intel mobo, NVidia graphics card, standard RAM, etc.). Use what you are most comfortable with. For shared storage - no such thing as "cheap". You will still spend thousands, if not tens of thousands...
