• Re: Apples move away from Intel CPUs to ARM

Does it also mean the end of Hackintosh? I'm guessing they'll find a way of adapting OS11 for Intel PCs. What about Boot Camp - no more Windows on Macs? Or maybe you'll be able to run Big Sur on a Raspberry Pi!

  • Re: Artist transport shift problem

You could try going back to an earlier version of Eucon. I did hear of problems with some of the newer versions of this software with users of Artist Color and Transport. I believe most (if not all) of the changes in version 20.x were really to address issues in the Audio controllers, such as the S3. I haven't read the readme's fully, but there

  • Re: Windows 7 Question / MC 2020

A little late to this conversation, but I've been told a few interesting things about upgrading to Win 10. 1) You don't have to buy an upgrade or a new licence. 2) If you intend to do a clean install of Win10 (probably the best option), you'll find that you can download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. This will enable you to create

  • Re: Do I need a (Avid Artist) I/O?

I've used the Artist color with Symphony, Resolve and Baselight Editions. With Resolve and Editions it works well. In fact with Editions, you don't use the Eucon software to communicate, as it seems to connect directly with the panel through ethernet once you assign an IP address in the Baselight settings. (best to have a fixed address for the

It's true that Avid haven't given up on Symphony - if you're looking at their current product page for the Symphony option. https://www.avid.com/products/media-composer-symphony-option However, reading this page, I would say the writer is living in cloud cuckoo land! The photo is the first piece of mis-information. It would imply that Symphony
If Avid have no intention of introducing new similar hardware and up then I think Symphony is destined to fade too.
I somehow doubt that Symphony will get any significant upgrade, but will simply continue to be included to insure legacy support for older projects. It seems that Avid are happy to let others provide

  • Re: AAF Export is PAINFULLY slow

This doesn't sound right. Steps I would try.... Try exporting to a different drive - avoid slow drives like USB sticks. Create a new (default) user profile - in case your one is corrupted. Start a new project and bring this timeline into the project and try the AAF export. Cut the timeline into two separate parts and try exporting each one - in
1. Do I need 2 interfaces. One video interface like the Avid Artist I/O and another audio interface like the prism lyra to connect everything or is there good interfaces for both at once, which is a better option / better deal for the money?
Depending on the type of I/O you choose, you'll get both video

  • Re: video conversion for broadcast, Mastering.

This is a technique that has been used to make it easier if you needed to link your sequence back to the original media. It used to be that MC couldn't relink across frame rates, thus making the separate projects necessary. At some point they added an option for linking across framerates, but I've had mixed results with it. There was also those
If I get different frame rates do I transcode but keep the original frame rate and let Avid do the converting on the timeline. Won't this compromise my performance, there is in fact a lot of drone
If I could chip into this conversation... I would recommend doing as you suggest... Link to the material and transcode
