• Re: NVIDIA Quadro / Z420 Questions
I only found P2000 cards with the fan on the bottom of the card. Like this:
Yes, I can see this. It was only a recommendation when using some of the heavyweight cards which throw out around 300 watts of heat, and can really raise the temperatures inside your workstation. The P2000 specs say it only consumes
1. Is the P2000 compatible with the Z420? 2. Do I have to buy the HP branded version of the P2000 card - or is it ok to buy the PNY NVIDIA Quadro P2000?
I'm pretty sure the P2000 would be fine with the Z420, as I've never heard of any modern Quadro card not being compatible with HP products, and I'm

  • Re: Hard disk doesn't show up in Consolidate/Transcode Window

Have a look in the Media Creation settings at the 'Drive Filtering' tab. If the 'Filter Drives...' checkbox is ticked, this might be filtering out the drive for consolidating or transcoding operations.

  • Re: MC/Nitris DX not capturing analog

It seems that all your options, apart from 'Host-1394' are greyed-out. This would normally be the situation if you had no hardware attached, so you only get firewire as an input option. Are you sure your Nitris DX BOB is properly connected/functioning? Do you see a message (at the very top of the screen - next to 'Media Composer') when

  • Re: Four corner tracking

You're coming up against the limitations of the Avid effects - OK for very basic effects but severely lacking for any more advanced work. As you mentioned, it is possible to use the Animatte effect to further soften your edges, but you'd need to separately animate the matte to follow your original track, so it becomes a painful process. If you

  • Re: Can't open past projects in new MC version

I guess the question is whether this is a bug in 8.9.2 or something peculiar about your setup. You could try making one of your problem projects available to download by others to test out. If they're able to open it on 8.9.2, that would at least rule out the software. It may also be worth it for them to re-save the project in 8.9.2 and see if it

  • Re: Short Cut for Freeze Frame?

I'm not sure if you're creating these series of stills for some particular purpose, as using the freeze frame effect creates new media. If you're simply wanting a series of 12 frame stills on the timeline I would use the timewarp effect as follows... 1) Create a timewarp effect with zero speed and save this template in a convenient bin.

  • Re: Media Offline after reconnecting external drive
Best practice avoids putting media on OS drive (C:). Try a different internal drive. It used to be USB2 drives didn't work well as MC media drives. Is this no longer so?
Putting the media temporarily on the C drive was suggested purely to ascertain if the media was the problem or the USB drive. I'm assuming

  • Re: Media Offline after reconnecting external drive

Are these transcoded DNxHD files in the Avid Mediafiles folders? If so, can you open up the Media Tool and see these files? If so, can you drag the mdb file (from the Mediafiles numbered folder) into an empty bin and see all your master clips? If the Media tool fails to find the media, can you try copying the whole folder (probably named '1'
