I am with Avid since 2003 and still don't understand why it takes it so long to catch up with other, Here is the list of problems I have been facing. 1. Age old ABVB avid system supported right to left font. I was surprised in 2004 when we bought Avid Adrenaline that It didn't support that anymore. They said it that time that Avid is working

Why we use other NLE's. We live in Arabic world and Edius is the only one or three popular NLE is to support right to left fonts. But problems with Edius is no dupe detection so for project with 1500 clips dupe detection is a must. Even if we don't use edius many production house here use it because of Arabic font support. AVI was another difficulty

Right We have huge footage in xdcam ex format which we are not allowed to trim or delete or take it offline because its been used and reused constantly. Its very convenient if we can use it in just linked maner. That way we only have one copy which can be used on any NLE instantly. If I transcode to DNXHD thats means double space. And half of the space

Thats true. Adobe keeps crashing and loosing track of stuff. Thats what scares me I stick with avid just for its media handling capabilities. But lately Premiere has improved at least what I hear from other editors. And one more problem there is so much footage comming in with 264 codec like gopro. Avid links these files but stutters so badly. What

I have hundreds of hours of rushes and customer makes many changes swiftly daily. Transcode of 3 to 4 hour stuff again is a long wait. All it takes on Edius and Premiere to mark in out ans export from same rushes.

  • H264 export from Avid MC 8.2

We diliver H264 in MP4 wrapper to our customers most of the time. 10 min export of 1920X1080/50i on Edius takes 12 mins and 9 mins on Premiere, Why it takes 30 mins three time as long on avid mc on the same system. Most of our editors have switched to Premiere and I shall follow soon if there is no solution. It may not matter for a 10min export but

  • MC 8.2 tells there is a display driver mismatch

I have HP-Z800 with Nvidia Quadro 4000 and BlackMagic HD extreme capture card. just upgraded to MC 8.2. On startup it warns about display driver mismatch and recommends to install ver. 333.11 supported drive. I downloaded this driver from Nvidia site, when installing it say no compatible hardware found and exits. Any solution?
