• Re: Blackmagic Design Hyperdeck Shuttle MXF Files

Well. Unlikey. We have 8gb fiber to the seats. No such problem with 220x media created by other means. Thanks though

Pardon if this has been posted to the list. Having an issue with 1080i DNX 220X MXF files captured via the Black Magic Shuttle. They play fine in 1080i projects but will not play in full green or 10bit green mode when switching project type to 30i NTSC. They show as black and report "CORE UNABLE TO DO". Odd that they are fine in 1080i. Need

  • Re: video de noise in 5.5?

Personally I think noise reduction should be a mandatory part of every feature set and every application which applies color grading and effects. It is also very useful because there are many popular cameras which are noisy, especially in shadows or areas of high saturation. Images produced with extended gammas likes FilmRec at full dynamic range and

  • Composer & S-log

Anyone working with S-log media from a Sony F3 yet? Any information you can share? Interested mostly in color workflow and deriving off speed from 720p60 or 1080p60. What do you think of the footage? Especially noise floor? How does it handle grading? Thanks
1. Only same as source 1.1x and DNxHDx QT's export 10 bit. 2. Only DNxHDx imports 10 bit. 3. Non Avid codecs are only imported 10bit via AMA.
1. APPARENTLY. Very weird and extremely limiting that custom exports to 1:1x do not work. And there is something odd going on with custom DNXHD X exports not related

  • Re: 10 bit Codec / Workflow Clarfication

In the interest of full disclosure, some of the false contouring I am seeing while working with real footage may be due to its nature and 709 to RGB export remapping. HOWEVER, I have experimented with a combination of methods, resolutions and levels. While working with real content is not as thorough or objective as working with test material it has

  • Re: Export Level Confusion

Still trying to wrap my head around one item. When exporting from Media Composer what is the relationship between the 709/RGB switch in the Avid export dialog box and the 709/RGB switch in the quicktime dialog box (in the case of a custom export they are both in play). Should these be set the same? Or is one process happening after the other. If I want

Here is a snapshot from today's run in with the 10bit confusion. Exporting a sequence from Avid with CUSTOM SETTINGS. Need to force a timeline full of various 10bit sources to DNXHD 175X. The timeline is in 10bit mode and my effect rendering is for 16bit. While I can select the Avid 175X 10 bit Preset from the drop down menu in the quicktime codec

Not true. The blackmagic codecs, pro-res, cineform, AJA and other codecs have no such issues when passing material from NLEs to other applications. This is a crucial element of modern post production workflow. Has been for some time. Would not call it specific subset. It is status quo and a near universal workflow. And it is a very reasonable expectation
