  • Re: Audio Levels for broadcast

Guys thanks so much for your help, I think I'm going to have my sound mixer place the limiter as his final step and just replace my timeline's audio. The broadcasters spec is -18 db with 8db peaking over so that makes it -10 db. I think I understand now, I have to change my bloody bars. Thanks alot guys. Avid forums=genius.

So is it best to have my sound mixer mix as he would with 0 db as the top limit and limit it once I have brought it back into avid or should he mix and then place a limiter on it as his final step and just plonk it straight into the timeline? God this is an absolute nausfest.

  • Audio Levels for broadcast

Hi I'm preparing to send out an omf for a friend who offered to do a stereo mix on my latest project (50 min TV show PAL). He's using Logic instead of pro tools, whatever its free. He asked me if he needed to output the audio with any limits/specs for broadcast. I said yes and these are......I have no idea. Sound has always gone out of house

  • seperate, simplified and robust live capture solution

Hi I often find myself gazing at 'Adobe OnLocation' and thinking to myself, 'I would like to try that but I don't want to ever touch premier'. Live capture is important to alot of Avid editors, not all but alot. Adobe's bespoke solution looks to be a good idea as you dont have to open premier and the programe only has one function
  • Re: Audio Mixdown hell

Hi Thats not quite true. I do have it in the export template settings, I just dont have it a part of the 'special' menu set. If i keep 'mixdown audio' selected in the output settings then i get three files, one QT ref for the video and two wavs for each mixed down audio track. This is useless to me as I need one file for compressing

no basically i have the full wipe to look forward to tomorrow, yay! It should work after that much effort, if it doesn't then i'll get an engineer out. But seriously does any one have the same problem with QT refs?

  • Re: Audio Mixdown hell

Thanks for all the help guys. I got the update but it made.......no difference. Ugh, another blank reinstall of OSX and MC3 then wahoo! I basically only wanted to do this because I have about 40, 90 minute documentaries (i have to film one a week) to convert to Ipod format and QT refs screw up the sound if I have more than 2 audio channels (I often

I'm running AVID MC 3.00, OSX 10.5.5, QT 7.5.5. I know its not strictly an approved system but I have run AVID on this system since MC 3 came out with no problems. I just cant understand how it could leave off parts of a menu. I'll uninstall and get back.

  • Audio Mixdown hell

Hi I have consulted the help files and have come up stuck. To perform an audio mixdown it says load a sequence into the record monitor (done), select the tracks (done), mark in and out (done) and select special-audio mixdown (DOES NOT EXIST). I have found instructions that say instead of special you go clip-audio mixdown but that does'nt exhist
