BUT BEFORE YOU PRESS EXTRACT, if you have clips on the other tracks besides V1, A1 and A2 that are later in the timeline, be sure to select all tracks before pressing "X" to keep everything else in sync down the road.
So does the sync button basically do the same thing as what you've described

Perfect, thanks guys! Can't believe I never realized you have to set in and out points to use lift and extract. I was thinking you just selected with the segment/overwrite tool, no wonder it never worked for me.

  • Best Method to Close Gap?

Hopefully simple question, what's the quickest way to quickly close a gap as show below? I've always lassoed the entire downstream sequence and slided it into the space but I'm sure there's an easier method...

  • Re: Media Composer 5.5.1 NOW AVAILABLE
This will be the last release of Media Composer, Symphony, and NewsCutter to be supported as a 32bit application. Next major release whenever that may be..... patches will most likely be 32 but I can't guarantee the next release after this though.... Marianna
Ah, okay thanks. Maybe I will try to hold out

  • Re: Media Composer 5.5.1 NOW AVAILABLE

I notice it has been said that 5.5 will be the last 32-bit version, does this mean that 5.5.2 etc. will be 64-bit only or that all major (6.0, etc.) releases will be 64-bit only? Still debating whether I should pull the trigger and go 64-bit.

  • Re: Needing New Avid Workstation: Mac Pro or PC?
Regarding your cross-compatibility of AE and PS etc, are you saying you've already purchased the Mac versions of these apps?
Hi Kenton, sorry I didn't clarify this. I already have the PC version at home and extra unused licenses for Mac from work so the software aspect should be covered I think

  • Needing New Avid Workstation: Mac Pro or PC?

So the time has come to get a new media workstation and I am hung up deciding between getting a Mac Pro or a PC workstation. Luckily all my programs are 100% cross compatible so that isn't much of a consideration (Avid, After Effects, Photoshop). Currently I have a PC at home and use Mac Pros at work. I'm completely comfortable with both platforms

  • Re: dual monitor weirdness???

I've had this issue as well, as I recall I fixed it by switching my monitors so that the left is the primary monitor. It seems that you also must have monitors of identical resolutions. It looks like it's an issue with Avid's normal window auto-snap feature. It would be very nice if there was an option to disable it to avoid this problem

  • Re: Severe Stuttering with AMA

I thought I would try upgrading to version 5.0.3 and that seems to have fixed the problem! What a relief. So it was just software not hardware like I was thinking. Although I'm curious what the program could have been. Anyway happily cutting my program now.
