• Re: Media Composer 2012.12.2 Available Now 19 Mar 2019

So in Application Manger it says 2018.12.2 is available. Is that really 2019.3.1 (March 19th) release? Seems confusing from a version control standpoint based on the naming convention introduced last year. I just wanted to make sure before installing. I'm on 2018.10. Thanks, Dan

Did the AVCHD AAC bug get fixed? I thought someone said it did, but I don't see it on the list. Thanks.

You shouldn't have to as it will probably rebuild the DB on its own when it sees the new drive. But you would delete the .mdb? and it's mate, .pmr (if memory serves). The smallest 2 files in the folder. :)

PS; i was reading your thread. You should find out what video card you have and if it's "approved". I have an old HP Z800 w/16GB of RAM (although running 6.5) and I work off USB 2.0, 7200RPM portable hard drives all the time without issue. Ditto with 2018.10 on a Z800 w/96GB RAM M4000 card. I don't think moving your job to a RAID will

So if your RAID is G: it would look like this: G: (this is your root drive), (C: is the root drive for your computer) Avid MediaFiles (no space between Media and Files-IMPORTANT) JobXYZ Sequences.avb Bin01.avb etc.avb JobXYZname (sub folder that was created in the original job, not a separate copy/paste) Then on your portable drive, we'll call that

Create a folder and put everything in there except Avid MediaFiles. That folder, along with your media needs to be on the root of the drive. When you launch Avid you'll want to target that drive for renders etc.

There are a bunch of posts about this. They EOL and out of business. There was a free version of 11.1 Pro at a link that accepted any old S/N, but that was like 6 months ago and I think that link was removed. Poke around and you'll find the link and info. Good luck.

Yeah I back up at the end of every day incrementally to another "isolated by job" back-up HD. (Then at the end of the week to incremental or full LTO from main project HD or Terrablock partition). I can copy over all the .AVBs, assetts that came from producer/client in folders that AVID/nor MDV can't "see", and the AVID job,
Why?
I dunno in 2006 when I tried MDV it just seemed to have a counter-intuitive UI (But then again I loathe iTunes "UI".) I do some very high-value industrial pieces $500K+, north of several TB+ and I really didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about trusting freeware to making rock solid back-ups

Yeah Discreet Edit was real good about keeping all assetts in a tidy place...I forget, but it worked great. When we went with AVID I just couldn't trust MDV so we bought a Terrablock to assign a drive to each job. Ditto with a portibale hard drive for every job. It made it super easy to back-up and restore from LTO or another portable drive when
