  • Re: How to fade up menus in Avid DVD

This is one of the limitations of AvidDVD. The only way of getting close to what you want to achieve, is as Nforcerx has described, but you will see a jump on screen as the video cuts into the menu. There are other packages around that make this and many other functions a lot simpler, like Scenarist, but it comes at a price.

  • Re: Major Major Database Problems

It could be that Avid is trying to track too many files in the database. I can't remember now, but there are limits to how many pieces of media and it is surprisingly small - like 2500, or thereabouts. You could download a free utility here that you can use to move media that you are not working with offline (out of the 2 mediafiles folders), trash

Thats what I will have to do. One more question... in case of the playout facility not having Avid, you say render uncompressed... the only uncompressed on this system, is Avid Meridien Uncompressed. Do I need to download something? Sorry for the noob questions... it's a whole new ballgame for me!

  • Re: HDCam

Hi Brian Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I presumed that the '50' in Avid terms refered to frames per second, so thanks for clearing that up. I am using a standard Xpress setup - with a striped pair of 128G (I think?) Avid drives. Would they be fast enough? The other issue I have, is that I don't have HD monitors on this setup, and

  • HDCam

I have Studio 5.7.5 and am about to embark on my first HD project. It is a 30 second commercial in PAL. The delivery requirement is 1080i 25 fps on HDCam. The first confusion I have is that my options of format on this system are 1080i/50, 1080p/25 and 1080i/50 HDV. How do I deliver 1080i/25? Do I chose 1080i/50 HDV and somehow transcode the framerate

  • Re: Where are transcoded files stored on C drive?

Under Pres/File Control, you should also select "delete temporary files every time I exit the application". That way you will be certain not to retain any unwanted files. I am sure that you have realised this, but many other apps make use of this temp directory as well, so be careful about deleting the entire directory. Do a "sort on

  • NVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400

I went to have a look at how many updates are accumulating on Windows Update and saw that my card has an update available. The date of the update is 10/2/2008. Does anyone know if this has been blessed by Avid? Thanks

  • Re: Audio-video sync problem when encoding to DVD

Does your sequence in the Avid have audio starting at the exact frame that the video starts? I have had this issue before and realised that the problem was that video started at frame 1, but I had audio starting some time later. In other words, nothing in teh audio timeline at the start. The workaround (if this is the case) is to drop any audio into
