  • Re: Verify Timecode values in an Avid DS Caption File

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the suggestion. In the end that's exactly what I had to do. A massivly painful process due to the many MANY mistakes in the transcription. After dividing, then sub-dividing a lot, I managed to identify and correct the remaining issues. I wonder if Avid could implement something where the subcap tool will import everything upto

  • Verify Timecode values in an Avid DS Caption File

Hi I have created a large Avid DS caption file for import via the subcap tool. The file was created by taking a transcript that a producer made in excel and then converting it to make the subcap file. What's become clear is that the producer has made many, many mistakes when entering timecode values including entering timecode values which have

  • Can't capture with DeckLink HD Extreme 3

Hi all, Trying to capture some archive material from VHS using MC 8.3 and DeckLink HD Extreme 3. Everything seems to work fine - I can select the card in the capture tool and I can see and hear the incoming signal in the source monitor. But as soon as I hit the Capture button I get this error: "No valid video signal present". So far as I can

  • Re: MC titles to Resolve via AAF

Hi Guys, Thanks for the suggestions and sorry it took so long to get back (busy week!). What I was hoping for was a quick/easy way to get the whole project including titles conformed inside Resolve at 4K for finishing. Creating the files in Photoshop and relinknig to them in resolve should go a ways to making it work. However I'm wondering, since

  • MC titles to Resolve via AAF

Hi guys, Does anyone know if it's possible to get Resolve 10 to recognise titles created in media composer? It seems an XML from FCP 7 to Resolve brings the sequence and titles (even though they appear tiny) but an AAF from media composer means any titles are simply seen as offline slug. Essentially I'd like to create the titles in MC then grade

  • Re: Larry Rubin

Like many others posting here today I've had my skin saved on more than the odd occasion by finding one of the many informative posts left here by Larry Rubin. I don't think I'm not over stating too much when I say that this community and in particular those most giving of their time and knowledge, like Larry, have had a profound effect

  • Re: How to make a region free DVD from an avid sequence

Hi The DVD's region (0 through 8) is unrelated to the video format and is simply a way to restrict the use of DVDs sold in one territory (or region) from being used in another. Of course in practice many DVD players now ship or can be hacked to be region free. However you could potentially have an NTSC DVD (US Video signal) that was also locked

  • Re: DCP file format

Just tested my first DIY DCP in my local multiplex yesterday and the process was incredibly simple. Start off by downloading the amazing, free, opendcp software ( opendcp.org ) and then check out these great guides on using it. http://www.thefilmbakery.com/blog/creating-a-feature-film-dcp-using-opendcp and http://dannylaceyfilm.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06

  • Re: Where are color bars and count down?

You can import a number of test patterns including various colour bars from /Applications/Avid Media Composer/SupportingFiles/Test_Patterns/ Media Composer doesn't have a "built in Countdown/Leader" but I've found these to be useful; http://leaders.jobterburg.nl Best G.
