  • The Future of Symphony?

Cross-posted from AVID-L2 @ Yahoo - because I think it's a valid idea: Here's how you can really make symphony the killer app it once was, yet again: DaVinci Resolve. Why do all that in-house-color-corrector-engine-coding when you can simply license the technology from Black Magic, and add it into symphony? I've been testing our new resolve

Great time to be in LA? Sudden heatwave! Unless your from Vegas, not a great time to be in LA. But alpha dogs has good air conditioning, so I'll be there... of course we might turn the A/C off to make Frank sweat, but that's a different story...

  • Re: Protools LE 7.x

Good Call! Forgot to respond earlier. Updating to protools LE 7.3.1 cs4 seems to have solved many of the ills we were having with the last release of studio complete. Suspect a driver issue, but it seems to be working well now, both in Avid and Protools. (We 'spliced in' MC Soft instead of Xpress in our studio complete room... I guess I could try the

  • Protools LE 7.x

I've had this pesky problem ever since upgrading to the latest (apparantly last) version of Studio Complete, but keep forgetting to research the fix since we don't mix that often. Each time I do got to PT, though, I waste an hour with this bug: When opening an old project in PT (or even a new one that's been saved and closed then reopened for whatever

  • Need Help Quick - Protools 7 constrain

I've been using protools 6.x (whatever we had to use for the old version of studio) and have been working on 'old' projects since upgrading - on a PC I need to be able to move tracks up and down without them slipping left or right - that used to be 'right mouse click' but now that's some kind of 'hotkey' thing. How do I constrain tracks from changing

  • Re: Phyical Upgrade Kit contents

I'm seeing this problem too, or a version of it. The ONLY reason I'm still using studo is for protools. I was just about to dump the whole mess, when they announce this upgrade. So I fell for it. Now, my old 'Avid' protools projects (6.5.4 or whatever the hell it was yesterday) when I open them in the 7.x today. And, the time code is gone! I'm assuming

  • Re: Facilis feedback

We run 1 Symphony Meridien, 1 adrenaline, 2 xpress w/mojo (switching this weekend to MC 2.5 w/Mojo SDI) all PC, and a G5FCP (which also runs MC 2.5- so far no apparant conflicts!) off a 24d. It's so solid that we never even turn on the local drives anymore. We've had this thing for almost 2 years. Service is personal and great. We've never had a serious

  • Re: are there any approved Video card that don't do this error ?

The color shift referenced in the article is on your computer monitor only and has to do with the overlay method as explained in the article. The shift can generally be tweeked out so it's gone or at least unnoticeable. It DOES NOT appear in video output over the video I/O. But WHY would you buy a DIY computer when you can order an avid-recommended

  • Re: HD monitor hook up to Studio

I don't believe there IS a way to do this. Upgrade to MC 2.5 (the new software only version of MC) and it includes a 'digital desktop' kind of feature, where you can go full screen on one of your computer's DVI outputs. HTH
