• Re: ama relink and transcode

Linked material need to be transcoded before you can create a QT Ref., which kind of defeats the purpose in this case. Try exporting as a QT Movie using the option Same as Source. This dumps the timeline in the project format as a QT movie (e.g. a 720P h.264 encode). If you've already rendered the timeline, it's reasonably fast.

Right-click in the bin and choose Source Browser (or use File->Input->Source Browser). Find the media you want to use. At the bottom of the source browser is a pair of radio buttons, one for Link and the other for Import. Select Link. For export, select the master sequence in the bin and use File->Output->Export to File. In the dropdown

OK, so what you want is an HD 720p/29.97 project. The media is stored as an MP4 using the H.264 CODEC and is 1280x720 (a 16x9 format). You should use Link rather than import. Linking (formerly AMA) to a file really just means that you're going to use the original media. When you import, MC will create new media. There are reasons for importing,

MediaInfo give you a lot of information, including resolution and CODEC used. This tells you what project settings to use. What does MediaInfo report for the clip in question?

  • Re: large files, ama choppy no matter what 4k

Brett, First, please watch the language. There's a reason for the filtered word list, and no good reason for trying to get around it. As for choppy playback, it takes a minimum of a 3-drive RAID 0 (using 7200 RPM hard drives) or a 2-drive RAID 0 (using fast SSDs) to play back 4k recorded as H.265 (HEVC). Otherwise you have to transcode it to DNxHR
Will this have any effect on doing a video mixdown when the show is finished? I would think not, but better to ask.
No effect at all. There's no generation loss using collapse (where there is when you mixdown and then edit the mixdown).

  • Re: Adding page curl to title?

Personally I still think it's easier just to collapse the two tracks into one, and putting the page curl on that track. If you're not familiar with collapsing tracks, all it means is that you're creating a virtual track from two or more tracks. To do this, start by putting the Collapse icon on your command bar (open the command pallete
I expect reasonable documentation for professional software.
Like I said, no real excuse. Good documentation should be sine qua non for all commercial software. There's even a lot of freeware software out there with more comprehensive manuals than for Title Pro 5.
