• Re: Any chance we can get Avid to scale on a 4k screen anytime soon?
We both don’t see any blurriness on any of our UHD/4k displays (laptops to large monitors). Not sure what that issue is here... explain?????????
See my response below ( http://community.avid.com/forums/p/179810/845957.aspx#845957 ). The text and such may be blurry when the display is set for the system

RAID 0 is fastest. RAID 5 is secure. It depends on what you're doing. If you're doing this professionally, then having the ability to recover from a drive failure may be more important than blazing speed. By the same token, disk space is cheap (at least for spinning platters); you could go RAID 0 for speed with a nightly backup job offloading

OK, here's something you can do to fix the bigger-but-blurrier issue when scaling up the display. In the file explorer, got to C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Media Composer, right-click on AvidMediaComposer.exe, select Properties and then the Compatibility tab. Select the Override high DPI scaling behavior, and change the Scaling perform by: to application

That MOBO has a lot of USB 3.1 ports. Get a USB 3.1 based drive enclosure (or RAID enclosure) and you should be fine for anything short of 8K or seriously overloaded multicam.

  • Re: credi roll problem

Select the Title Container you added to the timeline. In the upper left you will see the tabs for Controls, Library Browser, etc. Click on Controls. Click on the Animation tab in the Controls box. Select either Roll or Crawl (depending on what you're doing) for the animation type. You will now see the animation controls, including the Maintain Speed

  • Re: credi roll problem

If you're using the title tool, the scrolling is based on the duration of the title (you can stretch or compress it to the right length to control the speed) as well as keyframes (which you can edit to control the ease-in and ease-out, among other things). If you're using Red, then in the Title container, set the type to Roll (or Crawl) and

I am a software developer, and the first API's to get the screen DPI don't appear till Windows 8.1. Before then, it was all system based (though you could monkey around with an application's compatibility mode to disable this for a given application). Currently, MediaComposer seems to be stuck at 96 DPI (standard for an older monitor). For
Meanwhile, back on topic, Avid's scaling still does not work as expected and therefore should be removed from the feature list or rephrased to say "LIMITED support for hi res monitors." At the moment it's rather misleading.
Don't you mean Microsoft's scaling? Avid is depending on Microsoft's
I'm not saying that UI scaling is perfect. But I do honestly believe that Avid shouldn't be holding back their development (or wasting resources) to accomodate older versions of Windows. Windows 10 has been out for two years now, and it is a very good OS.
It's not nearly that simple. Avid

To go along with the W10 Anniversary edition scaling feature, applications need to be modified to call a couple of different functions that were added to the Windows API. These allow the app. to control the scaling of the windows they create individually, and they look a whole lot better than using the display settings scaling feature. But this creates
