I like that it does HD but also will record SD AVI to the cards as well as having a 1394 port for streaming with I do a lot of. The other one I might look at is the HMC

I don't know if this issue was resolved but I wanted to pop in and say that I have always in Avid DVD 6.1 seen the video when displayed looking like it is 4:3 even after I select the 16:9 radio box. But the DVD's always show correctly on a 16:9 set. Go ahead and burn one and you should have no issue with it. Jeff

I am wondering how long Avid will continue to support and produce updates and fixes for version 5 and 5.5? I have 5.0.4 and have not felt the need to upgrade. It does what I want and so I am happy with it. Jeff

I have a couple of questions then on this, Videoguy - the info on your website for Cineform doesn't list MC as one of the compatible NLE's, Since it is just doing conversion, the NLE doesn't matter that much right? As long as it is converting to a codec the NLE can handle right? For MC folks - is the codec for playing back this codec (Cineform

Interesting to see this thread as I just read about this device today in Sound and Communications magazine. Looks nice. What size drive do you have in it? Personally I wish it also had the interface to the computer so you could capture directly through USB 3 or Thunderbolt while you record to the drive. Jeff
