  • Re: Avid Not Recognizing Activated License

This is the exact issue I'm having. The app manager says that my Avid is activated, but Avid itself won't recognize that fact :-) I've emailed Raff Condalor so hopefully he can sort me out! I'm dead in the water at the moment, and I've got work to do... :-(

Asaf - the only other factor is that you shot your footage as MP4, yes? I shot mine as MOV, then use MOVtoMXF.

Hi Asaf, The only other variable I can think is that a previous installation of Codecs on my system could be necessary? If I was you I would install the free Panasonic P2 plugin for AMA: https://eww.pass.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/content/download/EN/ep2main/ama_e.htm#tabs-2 It's a bit of a dumb bit of software - once you install it, it is VERY

AndrewAction, Yes Resolve Studio beta (14xx) on windows is quite fast with gh5 4k 10-bit h264, but be warned everyone that: - you need 32gb of ram (16gb will cause Windows to 'pause' annoyingly when you move your playhead too much) - and the faster the better. DDR3 1800mhz is too slow in my experience. - after trial and error, I have realised

Asaf, here are some more ideas to problem solve your issue: - were the mxfs created successfully? If not, did you definitely add the environment variables as required by the instructions? If not, the scripts will not work and you won't be able to create MXFs. - did you make sure to AMA LINK them into avid, not import? - what version of avid are

Asaf, my original files were MOV so I used mov2mxf i just followed the instructions on that link - unfortunately no, no more detailed instructions anywhere! :(

For anyone hoping that the paid (Studio) version of Resolve would work well with 10-bit H264 4K files from the GH5... well, it works, but I wouldn't say "well". It's extremely slllloowwwwwwwww and buggy. It's not maxxing out my CPU, nor my hard drive, so I'm not sure what the issue is. But yeah, I wouldn't recommend trying

BTW here's an example of various framerates and sizes and what works (ALL files are 10-bit except the 3840x2160p59.94 clip):

Follow up: I've tested the files that resulted from "re-wrap" of 10 bit 4:2:2 files from the GH5 via FFMPEG/BMX (Windows 7), and found that: WHAT WORKS? - C4K and 4K files work great - 1080p doesn't work at all (error is "Failed to get the key frame index from the AMA Plug-in) ARE THE H264 RE-WRAPPED FILES FAST TO PLAY/EDIT? They

I've managed to get the original raw H264 10 bit 4:2:2 files working in Avid... ! Weird I know, but true. :-) You just need to "re-wrap" them, as actually suggested above by someone. IT WORKS. Check this out (ignore references to Vegas) and follow instructions: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/gh5-4k-24-30p-problem--105152
