• Re: Oversized motiongraphics

Link to your 4K media. Cut it into your timeline. Use FrameFlex to do your moves. (Optionally you can transcode your linked media at either full raster size or a smaller proxy size. As long as you relink to your source before outputting you're good to go.)

  • Re: Audio from production seems to favor right speaker

it's not uncommon for recordists in the field to record one channel from the same microphone lower than the other to protect against transient peaks. Typically, the difference is around 6db. Maybe you are experiencing that.

  • Re: Quicktime Reference Replacement Workflow

It depends on where you want to end up. What your final output needs to be. Personally I was delighted to see direct, fast H.264 export under mov in the export dialogue. This will save me a step in many of my projects. Worth taking a moment to investigate the new options.

  • Re: 4K DNxHR to YouTube - YouTube won't read

    Agree with NYnutz here:
this sounds more like a problem with your quicktime export than with DNxHR.
You're leaving an awful lot of details out. That said, using Adobe Media Encoder, is a good, reliable workflow that allows for many different kinds of output.

  • Re: Rearranging tracks

As Carl said, ALT+CTRL+U opens a dialogue that lets you pick a track number. Higher audio track numbers normally appear below the current tracks. It sounds like your sequence has some missing low track numbers that Avid is trying to fill in. Have your tracks been renamed so you can't see the number?

  • Re: EDL beginner - how do I import this?

Your sources appear to be in thousands of a second rather than frames, which is fine for subtitles but will throw out errors on an edl. Edit: FWIW your list will open successfully in Premiere. However, I can not bring it into Avid from there using any of the regular methods.

  • Re: ntsc to pal/secam

You can get into details about monitor refresh rates, etc -- but computers for all practical purposes are frame rate agnostic. It does not need to be converted.

  • Re: Hitch w/ DV25 ingest via Host-1394
adjusted video and audio in After Effects while upscaling to HD, renders about 1.5:1 so that's acceptable, then DnxHD145 clips drop into MC as expected.
Not trying to second guess you, but those clips Premiere captures can be linked directly into Avid as-is. (I'm using a windows system, though
I know what you mean, I'll end up replacing my drive but I genuinely don't know how it became damaged - it's just a bit frustrating but don't know what else to do really...
Drives fail. They're better now than they've ever been but it still happens. It's no reflection on you as

  • Re: How do you import only video when you link to media

Don't do it. You will make it almost impossible to reference back to the original file for your final output. Two better options (if you must.) 1) Re-wrap the original file without audio BEFORE linking in Avid creating a video only file. 2) -Link to the file -Transcode/Consolidate as normal -Delete the audio AFTER Transcode/consolidate.
