• Re: Mixed case comments in EDL

Interestingly, markers and clip names appear in mixed case when the template is modified ( "toupper_conversion" set to FALSE), but comments stubbornly remain in uppercase, as evidenced in this simple EDL: TITLE: bars FCM: NON-DROP FRAME 000001 SMPTE_Bars.pct V C 01:00:00:00 01:00:30:00 01:00:00:00 01:00:30:00 *COMMENT GOES HERE *FROM CLIP

  • List Tool - Frame Count applies to EDL?

In Editing Guide : Generating Output : Using the List Tool : EDL: List Options, there is a reference to the "Frame Count" option. I checked it, but I don't see any Frames listed in my EDL. Is this just a Cut List option that doesn't have any effect on EDL generation?

  • Re: Nexis, MediaComposer and slowness with many open bins and the attic
Short answer: no. Longer answer: that would require being able to partition drives with shorter sectors optimized for smaller files. Unfortunately that would preclude the ability to resize workspaces on the fly as it would require differently formatted partitions.
So, two servers then? One with short sectors

  • Re: Restoring "Avid NEXIS Bins" history
What do you mean by move a system? Can you elaborate? Also, do you mean the project state reverts to as if it is a new project?
Sorry, this seems rather extraneous information to the issue at hand, but if I must: our "editing solution provider" moved one of our systems from a basement location

And what is listed in the EDL_Manager_Templates folder far outnumbers what is in the dropdown menu in the List Tool, --compare the checkmarks in this table: http://chuckipedia.ca/index.php/Avid_EDL_Manager_Templates Plus the Film list formats ( Columnar, TabbedLists, etc) in the List Tool dropdown aren't in that folder. Not that they were there
Small files take a longer time to save on a Nexis because it's optimized for large media files, not small bins and SearchData files like the ones used by PhraseFind or ScriptSync.
So shouldn't there be a way to designate a workspace (I think that's the name for Nexis partitions) to be media optimized

  • Mixed case comments in EDL

Back in AMC 6.5 I could go to /Applications/Avid EDL Manager/SupportingFiles/EDL_Manager_Templates/ and edit the EDL Template (eg. CMX_3600) and look for the line with "toupper_conversion" on it and change the TRUE value to FALSE. Then I'd get Mixed Case comments instead of UPPERCASE comments. Now I'm on 2018.8 and can't reproduce

  • Re: How to add comments to timeline

Yes, you can go to /Applications/Avid EDL Manager/SupportingFiles/EDL_Manager_Templates/ and edit the EDL Template (eg. CMX_3600) and look for the line with " toupper_conversion" on it and change the TRUE value to FALSE. At least that worked in AMC 6.5. I'm on 2018.8 currently and can't reproduce the mixed case result after editing

  • Restoring "Avid NEXIS Bins" history

Everytime we move a system and the MCState or z folder gets reset, our project loses the history in the "Avid NEXIS Bins" folder. Is there a way to backup or restore and not go through this inconvenience of losing these bins every single reset?
