  • SLI Bridge -- NVidia Graphics?

I am thinking about purchasing a second NVidia M4000 to use with Avid Media Composer / Symphony via SLI Bridge on an HP Z620. Does anyone have any experience with the SLI Bridge technology? Does it work with Avid? If so, does it significantly improve performance. Looking especially to enhance 4K playback. Thanks

  • Re: XDCAM AMA issue

Hi John, Thanks for the comment. I thought I set my options here to notify me by email if someone responds to one of my posts, but I never seem to get those "notification" emails. Anyway, yes, I did load everything from scratch. But that wasn't the problem with the Java error. So here's an update. I solved it. I found out I had an

  • Re: XDCAM AMA issue

I switched to an SSD drive and I get the same weird error message about Java Platform SE Binary has stopped working. In my case, AMA of XDCam HD files works fine. But that might be because those files were ALREADY imported onto a hardrive BEFORE I switched to SSD as my operating drive. I will have to test and see if there is a problem now with importing

  • Re: More Newbie questions....

It is nice that we can zoom in on the monitor, but it is a serious problem that we cannot RESIZE the Color Correction Control WINDOW to make it bigger. Fine tuning is very difficult with the tiny window size. For example, many corrections using CURVES would be MUCH easier to accomplish if we were able to expand the WINDOW so that the CURVES were the

  • Re: Symphony PC Java error

Hi Howard, I would have written back to you immediately, but thought Avid Forums would send me an email if there was a reply. Didn't check back here until this minute. Your question is interesting. It appears to me that Avid does not need Java because it keeps working after the error message comes up and users like us "close" the Java

  • Re: Symphony PC Java error

Howard, I get this same error in Symphony in Win7Pro and I have no idea why. I tried reinstalling Java and it didn't help. Just thought I should add to your post so you know you are not the only one experiencing this strange error. Best, Michael

  • Re: Media Composer (5.5.3) and Profire 610 audio output weirdness

Hey there, Like the original poster, I have tried to use the Profire 610 with Avid. In my case I'm using Avid Symphony 6.0.3 on Win7Pro64. Avid of course owns M-Audio now and has for some time. You would think they would create a driver that would allow us to use the Profire 610 with the newest versions of Avid software. At least that's what

  • Re: Problem -- Media Creation Settings. Limited options?

Thank you Pat! You were right. My project was in RGB mode. I changed it to YCbCR as you suggested and suddenly many more options popped up. I found it interesting, however, that under the Media Creation section, the options under various tabs are not the same. With YCbCR there is no way to capture uncompressed (i.e., for greenscreen). And some other

  • Problem -- Media Creation Settings. Limited options?

I have a project with settings of 23.98P 1920 x 1080 16-235 color space. I can export anything I want. Endless choices. I can also AMA link to uncompressed and XDCam HD codecs. I plan to import some HDV files. More importantly, I would like to import the uncompressed files with the intention of creating smaller file sizes in DNxHD codec. But in Media

  • Re: 6.03 Video Resolution only DVCPro HD MXF

I have a similar problem. I only have two available video resolutions. These are DNxHD444 and 1:1 uncompressed. Both take up too much hard drive space and I only need DNxHD175 quality. I have a multitude of format options available for export, but not for media creation. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Mike
