• Re: 2018.12 to 2019.6 (NAS Storage Sharing is STILL BROKEN...) BUG: "MCCET-2960" L3 PLEASE FIX IT!!!!

Hi Marianna, We're also still seeing the same issue in 2019.6 and 2018.12.5/6...looks like the actual drive pathway that is listed in the bin was corrected in 2018.12.4, but functionality is not. After 2018.9 bins would show the username in the AMA drive path for 3rd party network storage, which is what I though was causing the issue, and this was

Yes that is the font, though it’s a licensed version

  • MC 2018.12.5 Not Seeing New Fonts

Hi all, We're having issues with 2018.12.5 seeing a new font that is installed. The Mac is running High Sierra 10.13.6. The font is question is "fonseca" and it shows up in all non Avid applications: Font Boot, TextEdit, MS Word, Adobe Suite, etc. However, it is not availabe in the Title Tool or Marquee. We have had success installing

  • Re: Mac Pro 2019 and Avid Media Composer

My understanding is that all modern macs that don’t have Xeon processors have QuickSync support in their Intel processors. This is because Intel hasn’t added QuickSync to the Xeon processor, so only the Mac Pros and iMac Pros are affected. There is no AMD GPU in the Mac Mini, it’s strictly an integrated Intel UHD 630. And if you look

Hi Dom, AppleInsider did a test back in April comparing the 2018 Mac Mini i3 with both a T2 and QuickSync against the iMac 4K with just QuickSync and there was a noticable difference with the T2 chip. https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/04/09/apples-t2-chip-makes-a-giant-difference-in-video-encoding-for-most-users Edit: Sorry I was mobile earlier,

though keep in mind the T2 chip has a hardware accelerator for H264 and H265/HEVC.
T2 is a pre BIO security chip. I think Apple is using Intel's QuickSync for the 264/265 acceleration.
While the T2 is primarily a security chip, it does include the hardware

I’m curious to see how support will work as well. It would be great if we could just pop over existing Nitris or Mojo cards into the 2019 Mac Pro PCI slots. The big thing to keep in mind is the MacOS 10.15 is completely dropping support for 32 bit software and thus there is no DNXHD support outside of Avid MC (and applications that have 64 bit

  • Re: Massive Performance Hit Running MC 2018.12.5

Hi Tony are you still have the NAS relinking issues since updating to 2018.12.5? Supposedly they were supposed to have been fixed in 2018.12.4. Its been killing my AEs on 2018.12.3 and High Sierra. I’ve been holding off on opening a ticket as the release notes for 2018.12.4 noted that Bug number MCCET-2960 should address ama linking over a network

  • Re: 2018.12.2 Media Composer ScriptSync Error: Machine has not been authorized

We had to downgrade our systems to High Sierra. If you’re on an iMac Pro or other T2 equippeed system that the model supports high Sierra, you can follow the instructions at https://nerdypup.com/downgrading-imac-pro-to-high-sierra/ to do so. Supposedly the issue has been fixed in Avid MC 2018.12.5 under Mojave that was released yesterday, but

  • Massive Performance Hit Running MC 2018.12.5

Hi All, I'm seeing massive performance hits while running MC 2018.12.5 on all my Macs running 10.13.6. Models vary from 2010 Mac Pros with 16-20GB Ram, ATI 5770 Radeons, to 2013 Trashcans with 32GB ram etc. Even my iMac Pros are noticing it. I'm getting a lot of pinwheeling just opening bins or opening AMA footage. Under 2018.12.3 I had no issues
