  • Video effects

Can anybody recommend tutorials/techniques for various video effects. I know what I want but as I don't know what they are likely to be called I will just have to give a description. I am not in front of AVID until next week so I can't even check effects myself. Basically, I want to create a gritty/grungy intro to my video where there are old

I have tried all these suggestions but none make a difference. What I am seeing is the whole of the paint/blur effect of the vignette at the bottom only flashing. So it isnt just a narrow black line flashing like I have seen before, but 2cm deep flashing. It does not do it on the computer monitor, only on a CRT screen. The end file will be on YouTube

We are actually in the UK so using Pal. 720x576. The P2 footage was shot on DV50, brought in as DV50. The dSLR footage is then brought in as DV. Thanks for your help.

Thanks. Wont I lose sharpness if I enlarge the clip? Is the problem because the dSLR footage is progressive and DV50 interlaced? I am not sure I fully understand the field 1 and field 2 yet.

  • Image/Paint

I use the Paint effect to create a rectangular blur around the edge of my video. (Draw a rectangle across the whole of the video with Blur properties, then draw a smaller rectangle on top with Erase property). When rendered, all looks fine on the PC monitor but on a CRT monitor, the lower part of the effect flashes on and off. I do have mixed media

  • Re: AVID Codec/Line at lower edge of video

Thank you. Can I do anything to prevent the line appearing but still use Avid codec? Obviously if the video goes on a TV it is cut off, but other files on websites etc it is still there. I would rather have the ability to stop it happening rather than cropping it. Thanks

  • AVID Codec/Line at lower edge of video

Exporting DVCPRO50 to any file type with Use Avid Codec checked, always produces a nasty line at the bottom of the video. It does not appear when I do not use Avid codec. Why does this happen? Also, can you recommend a good software choice/workflow for compressing files and then DVD authoring? Thanks.

I need to install this program that comes with AVID but there is no installer. How do I install this? Is it a good package to use for creating menus etc or does anybody recommend anything else? Thanks
