  • Re: Group clips are losing pan

On Avid 8.1 the same bug as described by Bloersch is still there. Incredibly annoying. Any chance we can have this fixed, Avid?

  • Re: Subclips different audio/video durations and with cuts

I should also add that it would in fact be preferable if Avid gave you the option of having different audio / video durations in subclips - I'm just very wearing of taking advantage of the current situation as I don't know if it will cause issues later on or if it is in fact a bug. I'm making sure audio/video is same duration when making

  • Subclips different audio/video durations and with cuts

Hi everyone, Running Avid 8.1 on a 2014 Mac Pro, though I've seen the same thing happen on Avid v7. It's a really bizarre behaviour that I cannot figure out. When syncing sound on a narrative feature, I make one long sync timeline, and then make subclips of each take from the timeline (using the method where you sub-sequence each take, select

  • Copy & Pasting timecode - syncing methods

Hi all, So I have another feature starting next year and have a new syncing workflow in mind, but it relies on one being able to copy and paste timecode from and to the source and record monitors (not bin columns ie. Mark IN). From searching and testing on multiple versions of Avid - this does not seem possible. Is this correct? If so, PLEASE could

  • Metadata for Group Clips

Hello again - second post of the day. Would Avid please, please fix what I presume is a bug. Group clips do not accept Scene or Take metadata. Makes no sense - is anyone at Avid aware of this and could this be fixed? They will accept custom metadata columns which is all good and well, but not quite what we're after. Thanks.

  • Custom Metadata in Bins

Hello, Few questions... I'm assisting on a feature and always looking for ways to improve and streamline the process of logging rushes. We're using the British slating system, and our subclips for each scene in Avid are named scene_slate/take-camera eg. 141_291/1-A for scene 141, slate 291, take 1, A camera. When displaying the Take column in

  • Re: Low cost shared projects and storage!

Just this month (August 2014) the folks over at Indiestor announced their own microservers - looks like just the ticket! Not sure if links are allowed, but Tiger Technology also finally released their projectSTORE product, which runs on Windows and allows full sharing including Avid bin locking. A Unity/ISIS is simply overkill for two or three editors

  • Re: Low cost shared projects and storage!

I get what you're saying, though from experience many features have only one editor and one assistant or one editor and two assistants working in DNxHD 36 for a 3 - 6 month period.. manually copying media over all the time to ensure everyone has identical media is time-consuming and delicate, and copying bins to and fro on finder level quickly becomes

  • Low cost shared projects and storage!

Hi everyone, I've long been interested in low-cost, 'smaller' alternatives to the likes of Unitiy, Isis, Editshare, Terrablock etc. While they are fantastic solutions they come at a price not fit for everyone's budget, and sometimes they are just not viable at all on smaller productions (due to physical space and noise requirements)

  • Re: Prevent Avid Isis/Unity Bin Lock Notice

Thanks for getting back to me Marianna, much appreciated. The three minutes thing is a result of my Autosave interval, as the system I'm on currently is somewhat unreliable and I've surpirsed even myself at how many lines I can pull from a transcript and put in a sequence in two minutes and 59 seconds! Anyhow, only on it for a week, so will
