• Re: How did you learn the DS?
I've provided that service several times - it really does help with something as deep as DS. Tony
You know, Tone, you should pop on over to Indy sometime. We do have a reasonably popular car race every May that you might enjoy. ;-) -Dave (read more)

  • What I like about EDITING on DS

You know that tilt-of-the-head look that dogs give you when they're trying figure out what you're saying? That's the look I get when I tell someone the the DS is the best editing software that I've ever used. Forget about graphics and composite modes for a second, it's the best app... (read more)

  • Re: Avid DS - Tip Of The Day

When tracking a shot whose object goes off-screen, simply hold down Shift and Right-Click the tracking points that can no longer find their target and move them to a point still within the screen. Once set, you can continue tracking forward or backward maintaining that initial tracking point(s). Sean... (read more)
After mucking about with it myself for a couple of months, I asked our friend and DS expert Jack London to spend a couple of days onsite with us, to go over the long list of questions and "holes" in our DS skillset
I've provided that service... (read more)

  • Re: DS on a Mac Pro?

Thanks, Tone. I downloaded the ATI control center, but didn't find anything similar to the settings in the nVidia panel. I'll keep thinking about it. Maybe I can track down an older version of the TE and see if that would work. -DT (read more)

  • Re: DS on a Mac Pro?
It does have an ATI graphics card instead of an nVidia, so it may never work
Indeed. But have you followed Bob's advice about how to set the 3D settings for the card? They may only be relevant to nVidia, but I found it was essential to get DS to launch. The... (read more)

  • Re: What tutorials would be most useful?
Personally, I would love to see a "hey, the last version of DS you saw was 7.6 (or 8.4), here's a 10 minute rundown of all the new stuff in v10, and why it's cool."
The problem with that is remembering what got added in which version (read more)

  • Re: How did you learn the DS?

A bit of background here. It used to be the case that before students were accepted for the DS 201 and 301 courses they had to first complete the "Getting Started" tutorial - many didn't. Then Avid introduced the DS 101 which was designed to be self-taught, and despite it being a prerequesite... (read more)

Place a clip on the timeline. Rename that clip "Hey, let's play DS Pong" without quotes. Two paddles and a ball will appear and you can play the computer in Pong. To turn off this 'feature', right click on the grey area just above the timeline and select Quit DS Pong. Sean S. (read more)
