Re: patch breaks copy to clipboard and load to source monitor

Avid had acquired an image of a behind the times, slow moving organization that suited the old guard, but was not attractive to the new movers and shakers.

The "New Thinking" brought upon the organization increased pressures to deliver solutions in step with new file based formats, and a desire to make the timeline manipulation more friendly to people using other products. (Smart Tools).

Clearly the goals were ambitious and the development tasks on a fastrack. Couple this with the reductions in headcount endured over the last year or so.

The pressure to deliver a 64bit product is rising, and with Apple moving away from NVidia toward ATI has to be causing some concerns.

Certainly a product rewrite has to be underway, and yet these cranky MC5 issues keep surfacing. People have to be working late hours...

This may not help, but I would point out that the world is much different than it was even a year or two ago. In general (if you're not one of the lucky few that got bailed out) businesses are feeling the pinch of tougher economic times. This translates into cost-cutting trends for everyone. Bottom line is I think we're going to have to be a lot more patient and understanding with each other if we hope to keep moving forward.

It's a lot simple that anything else.

Just take Wim and some others who are actually working on MC5 (than playing or spenting

their time with it) to beta test it.

Talking will do no good. Only capable people should beta testing.

Re: patch breaks copy to clipboard and load to source monitor

As a workaround I have mapped the 'Clipboard Contents' button to a spot under the source monitor. So now I 'CTRL V' then press the 'Clipboard Contents' button -- just one extra click ...

did anybody try to map the alt-key to the the clipboard key via command palette, so you have the small tiny dot on the key? Would be interesting if that works.

    Larry Rubin:

If there ever was a guide on how a company can alienate an existing customer base's relationship with their product, a chapter should be devoted to MC v5.

As much as I wish it were otherwise, I'm sorry to say that I am forced to agree with this statement.

Avid's deafening silence for months on the memory problem was extremely bad PR and alienated a lot of Avid supporters, some of whom have jumped ship!!
