    Conform from PDW-HD1500

    Hi all,

We have a project with the majority of footage acquired XDCAM HD 50 Mb/s 4:2:2 on the 50 GB disks. The rushes were brought in via AMA, direct from the disk, and immediately transcoded to 1:1 SD through software conversion, ie by switching project tab to SD. Unfortunately this has resulted in unsatisfactory aliasing on some shots.

Thanks to Dylan's tests, I see that Sony's PDW-HD1500 deck provides the best quality SD downconversion via SDI. Our plan therefore is to decompose the sequence and batch capture from the original disks using the 1500. I'm guessing this will be fine, but just wandered if anyone has attempted this before? I'm also assuming that I will have to modify the master clips to assign tape names for each disk for it to work.

    Ollie

Hmmm just checked the Supported Devices list

    http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/attach/SUPPORTED_DEVICES_FOR_AVID_EDITOR_PRODUCTS.pdf

And it says this deck is supported for a FAM workflow only. Dylan Reeve certainly used it for his tests here though, capturing through SDI

Anyone know if a conform will work?

Occasionally I'll downconvert using the 1500 and it works quite well.  As you've already mentioned, you'll need to modify the clips to add tape names.

Thanks Haze. So you've batch captured successfully from it?
