    Problem importing ALE file

I have a flex file from a 16mm film transfer to HDCAM that I can't seem to convert correctly to a 1080 23.98 project ALE.

When I try to import the converted Flex to ALE file in a 1080p 23.98 project I keep getting the "cannot import this shot log because it is NTSC and you are not in a NTSC project" error. I try to convert the ALE file in Avid Log exchange to change the project type but it doesn't seem to change anything. The header in the ALE always reads NTSC 24fps no matter what settings I try to convert to. I need to capture this HDCAM in DNXHD175x not in an SD project. Any suggestions?

Canyou run us through the seps you used to create your ALE? It looks as if the file format you created was 30i and the project into which you are importing is 24p.

    Re: Problem importing ALE file

thanks for the response Blkdog. I figured out a workaround (I think) but here is what I was doing. Open Log Exchange select Flex file as input type, select 23.98 for FPS, Project type 1080, Film 16MM, tracks V1 only, Clean, output type ALE. The resulting ALE file opens up with NTSC project type and 24fps in the header. It's as if Avid Log exchange isn't working correctly. I tried it using the automatic input type too with no luck. I am using version 25.0.0.

The workaround was to import the converted Flex to ALE into a 23.98 NTSC project, flip the format to 1080 23.98 and export an ALE of that bin from Avid. Then create a new 1080 23.98 project and import the ALE. It seemed to work... Does that sound right or did I change something I shouldn't have?
