    Big Smile Come on John!
I know that you and Mike count for the most of the views..... but 250,000 was on December 23rd, 2010.

Today, 2 months later, another 20,000 views have been added.
Is that only you and Mike?

That would be about 160 views a day for each of you.

There can't be enough hours in a day for that?

Anyway, my newest collection of tutorials (the first new ones since last year) will be online on my site in the next day or so.
Maybe you will need time to watch them too.

    Regards,
    Douglas

Re: Basic MC Tutorials - Series 2

I've added a new Tutorial to the 2nd Series as a Bonus!

It was inspired by a question on the MC-MAC forums and deals with the creation of a Star Wars Title Roll done in AvidFX.

There is already a template in AvidFX to make this effect, but as you probably know by now, I do not like providing ready made templates - I prefer showing how to build up an effect from scratch.
In that way it is easier for individuals to adjust and create their own variations of an effect.

This Bonus tutorial is a slightly abridged version of a tutorial which will be included in my next Tutorial Packet.
In the Tutorial Packet version, there are descriptions of a few other parameter settings, as well as CC (Closed captions). Great to have if you want to watch one of my tutorials at work......in silence so the Boss doesn't notice Big Smile

Re: Basic MC Tutorials - Series 2

Just to let you all know.
I am continuing my production of Tutorials.
Now I have been concentrating on AvidFX, BCC AVX filters and Boris Red.

Just recently a forum member had problems pinning a text onto a moving background, that was also zooming.

I made an unofficial tutorial for him, and during the making of the tutorial I discovered a bug in AvidFX (Boris Red)
you can see that unofficial tutorial HERE

Today I got a workaround suggestion from BorisFX, so I just finished making THIS TUTORIAL to explain the workaround.

NB. These 2 tutorials are just "quickies" done for a specific user. I hope they will be of interest to some of you others. At least they show the direction I am taking with my new tutorials.
If the playback is too large for your monitor, try using CTRL  " - " to decrease the size.

The more I look at AvidFX the more I realise that it is far far deeper than anything I ever imagined.
It will never catch up on After Effects, but it is closing the gap.

In the latest release of Boris Red, it is now possible to add many of the plug-ins that are available for After Effects and manipulate them from inside of Boris Red.

Have you been confused by the use of advanced Keyframes in the standard PiP effect?

I have just added a Summer Bonus Tutorial to my list at the start of this thread!
maybe it will clear up a few things about the taming of the PiP.

Maybe Mike and John are slow learners and have to view the tutorials many times.  With the two "bonus" tutorials, the total count is 204, which means that at 100,000 views for each of them, Mike and John have watched each tutorial an average of 490 times!

As I said, slow learners. Wink

I've really enjoyed the free tutorials and I look forward to you releasing your Avid FX packet on your site. Avid FX has been a mystery to me for years but the free tutorials are starting to get me to test the water a bit more. Can’t wait to see what else I can do inside Avid MC 5.5.

I have downloaded the free trial of CS5 but I think I can accomplish a lot inside Avid without paying for another program. (small budget here!!)

Re: Basic MC Tutorials - Series 2

It has been a while since I posted anything here.
So here is a link to a little Tutorial I made to help a Community member understand one way of burning a DVD with a Blu-Ray HD file - for HD playback.

Before you watch I would like to say that if I was going to play it on a Blu-ray player - I would be burning the file onto a Blu-ray disc and not to a DVD disc.

You will not get Blu-Ray quality playback, if you play the DVD on a DVD player....... on A Blu-Ray player which can playback .m2ts files, it will look quite good.

Not many older Blu-Ray players can playback a straight m2ts file.
I use either a PS3 or an LG BD-550 player.

Also I am wary of burning these high bitrate files to a DVD for playback.

In my book a DVD disc has a certain surface coating optimised for a max playback bitrate of 8,000.
A BluRay disc has a different surface coating for bitrates up to 40,000.

So, the way I see it, forcing a DVD to playback with steroids is not a good idea.

But it is up to everyone to make their own decision.

You have now a Tutorial that shows 1 way of doing it HERE
