    Not the whole Forum, John!

What with MC5 on the go................ Yes............... I can't quit now.......

    Douglas

I guess with MC5 not due out until June 2010, we will have to wait a couple of months for the next installment of your great tutorials.

Staying with the current 200 Tutorials subject, would it be possible somehow to download them from the Avid server so that I could organise them in groups by function (e.g. Capture related, Audio editing, etc.) in order to easier locate a specific tutorial subject.  With 200 separate clips, it can be a bit daunting to locate just the right one (not that I am complaining about the quantity of your great tutorials!).

Igor, at this moment in time I have no plans of making any new tutorials for uploading here.

My, "I can't quit now" was referring to a question asking if I would be ceasing my Forum activities. e.g. Moderating.......

This link explains the present situation:

    http://community.avid.com/forums/p/71781/455264.aspx#455264

I don't expect to have any answers to how I will proceed in the future until May at the earliest.

    Regards,
    Douglas

PS. Telling you how you could download the present tutorials would be cutting my own throat! Big Smile

    Douglas,

By this comment, are you saying that you are selling these tutorials and letting people download them would cut out your commercial endeavours?  If so, what are the particulars as I just may be interested.  My thoughts originally were to find a way to organise the tutorials into blocks for easier navigation, that is all.

I am with you on that part!
I have tried to sit down and make some form of index to the jungle of Tutorials I have created.
    But never finished.

Well I think I would be breaking Forum rules if I was to begin talking about what I sell or don't.
I wouldn't like to have to moderate myself Big Smile
Privately I might be able to tell you more.

Re: The Next 100+ Basic MC Tutorials - (101 Uploaded, April 20th)

    I'm back!

A feature found in Liquid done at the click of a button can also be done in MC. BUT it takes a little more than the click of a button.

However it is only a question of milliseconds in time difference between the two.

Try it! With a little practice you will soon get the hang of it.

    Good luck!

    Regards,
    Douglas

PS. The very first two "tutorials" I posted were not actually tutorials. They were just 2 pdfs with information about myself.
So, to bring the total number of tutorials up to 200, I need to do 2 more.
This is the first of them.

Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile

Looks like that on the surface, John

However I am already working on the future. I am working with Camtasia 7 right now.
It is all about sharper image quality, Clickable menues, More on BCC and AvidFX combined with the possibility of being able to put food on the table for the effort.....................

But it will be May before I make the final choice of which path to go.

Until then there is one more Tutorial to look forward to.

Re: The Next 100 Basic MC Tutorials - (100 Uploaded, April 12th)

    Douglas,

    you asked for number 202?

My suggestion is that you could do a short tut for combining MC and Sorensen.

I'm very interested in the way I have to make a MPEG2 file (like in Liquid), so I have HD quality in a single MPEG2 file, I can play in a HD TV.

    Is that possible?

MC6.0.5, QT version 7.7.3, AvidFX 6.2(64bit), Squeeze Pro 8.5.0.41, AvidDVD 6.4.4 (still in my system, but I don't use it anymore), Boris Continuum... [view my complete system specs]

Thank you for the suggestion, Sef.

However I will have to disappoint you as I am already in the middle of editing my final tutorial (202).

If you have AvidDVD you can create a Blu-Ray disc for playback to your HDTV.
To create that you just need a QT reference file from MC direct to AvidDVD.
No need to involve Sorenson at all.

    But that is another story.
I have covered it in quite a few tutorials on the topic, and "Matrix is a Lie" has also a whole collection of Tutorials over in Tips and Tutorials on how to use Sorenson, if you reallly must use it.

Sorry you are out of luck with Tutorial 202!

    Regards,

    Douglas

Re: The Next 100 Basic MC Tutorials - (100 Uploaded, April 12th)

No way Douglas. I thank you for all the effort you make to make us happy.

    May I describe my "problem"?

The point is, that I can export in Liquid a Timeline to File and choose for HDV 1080i for watching on a HD TV. That creates a MPEG2 VBR file that can be played directly in a Samsung HD TV with USB connection. So no need for making a Blu-Ray DVD.

I think, but might be wrong, that in MC this Export is not available so, I have to do it outside MC. I thought, and could be wrong, that Sorensen comes into picture when I want to do something like that.

    Do you have any idea?

The only person I know who has done a lot of different tests with getting HD quality out of their NLE's and on to HDTVs is Mjolnarn.
He may see this thread and jump in - no need to worry about OT or anything for my part.
Feel free to talk about it here.
If Tomas doesn't jump in, try starting a separate thread as a new post.

Re: The Next 102 Basic MC Tutorials - That's All Folks! May 14th, 2010

Well, with Tutorial 202, I now close the door on the 2nd Series of tutorials here in the Community.

I am closing the door for my own personal reasons.

It has to do with the fact that here in Japan we eat rice to survive.
    Rice costs money.
To make more money I need to re-direct a lot of my energy from the enjoyable but uneconomical production of Tutorials for this community.

I will not be ceasing with production, but I will be promoting my tutorials through my own site.
I will also be changing from mainly basic stuff to more specialised tutorials, like this final one (202) on some of the BCC filters.

I hope that the 202 tutorials will continue to help newcomers to this great community.
I will continue to show my presence in my capacity of a moderator, and if the climate is right I may pop back from time to time with a Tutorial or two to keep things alive!

Thank you all for your interest in my humble attempts at helping you get up and running with MC.

    Regards,
