I dont think it does, its a DVW A500

But I'm working on a nitris dx mc 3.5 system so can the system do it somehow so that the deck can send out its 30fps SD video and the nitris somehow does something while my 24p project is open

I have that deck, too.  I mean the tape, telecined from film?  Avid can reverse the telecine process and import at 24 or 23.98 fps.  It would be best to match the framerate of your 720p footage if possible.

Re: Using Digibeta 30fps video in 24P 720P project

no no its just a tv show on digibeta so its 29.97 on the digi like a standard NTSC digibeta.

so I want to get that show into the AVID but into a 23.976 project . Is that easy to do and how?

Also my client wants this 720p 23.976 project  layed back at 1080i so how would I do that, like can I upconvert it on the layback?

Re: Using Digibeta 30fps video in 24P 720P project

Yes, for layback you would use the Video Output Tool, go to options and select Crossconvert - 1080i/59.94.  I'm not sure how you can import the digibeta, though.  I don't think Avid will let you mix the framerates.

You might have to create a work tape where you lay your sequence down at 1080i HD or 480i SD and create a new project. Now you can capture your work tape and the digibeta in the same project.

Maybe someone else has a better solution.

It will not look good as you are removing information (30 -> 24).

Curious - why edit in 720/23.976p?

Re: Using Digibeta 30fps video in 24P 720P project

I'm editing at 24p because the footage was shot on Varicam. It came off of DVCPRO tapes. So to get the varicam fames with the speedups and slowdowns I had to do it at 24p cause if I did it at 59.94 the speed would be differnet wouldn't it?

Even so if I did the prjoect at 59.94 it still prevents me from bringing in 30fps footage from other projects.

    Isnt this true?

Like on the guys slate clapper he has 720p 24p   so the footage was shot at 24p on DVCPROHD tapes

Re: Using Digibeta 30fps video in 24P 720P project

No, you can do this.  Look under the Format tab in the project settings.  You can switch to 30i (in 1080i/59.94 project) and digitize from your SD tape.

Re: Using Digibeta 30fps video in 24P 720P project

ok but I loaded everything already into the 23 project so its all loaded at that rate. Can i somehow convert it all quick over to 59.94 project?

Or would i have to reload everything?

i'm loading off a AJ1200 deck so it supports lots of different rates.

That's why I suggested that you just make a work tape.  I didn't think you would want to start all over.

Ok yeh that sounds like a good idea.

This is going to air on cable tv, so they want to air at 1080i  so I'll be able to cross convert the final sequence to that and it should look fine?

Re: Using Digibeta 30fps video in 24P 720P project

I don't have any 720p media here to try but I don't see why not.  That's what the hardware/software is designed for, anyway.  Have a good edit!
