Missing Tri Level Sync option in video output tool?

I am trying to bring in 23.98 HDCAM footage in a 23.98 HD project but I do not see Tri Level as a sync option in the video output tool. The only options I have are internal and reference. For some reason I don't have Tri level as an option in Symphony 3.5. Can anyone else confirm?

I am sending Tri Level 23.98psf sync to both the HDCAM D-1800 deck and to the DX. The deck is happy (no flashing lights) but the DX sync light is flashing green and amber.

    Any ideas?

We don't have 3.5 implemented yet. But check to make sureyou are in not in NTSC 23.98 mode.

Re: Missing Tri Level Sync option in video output tool?

    Thanks Dom,

Yes, I am in a 23.98 HD project. I think I resolved my problem though, my sync generator was set to 23.98p, I switched it to 23.98psf and now the DX is happy (Green Light).

Everything is working fine now but I still don't see a selectable Tri level sync type anymore. Did Avid remove this setting and now just have an auto switched reference input now?

My guess is that they probably forgot to label it correctly. Basically, in a HD 23.976/24 project types tri-level sync is the only legit sync. Regular bi-level sync will not suffice. Avid probably meant internal or tri.

Re: Missing Tri Level Sync option in video output tool?

On SN classic there are two sync inputs; composite for black burst and Tri-level, hence the choices of internal, reference (black burst) and Tri-level (Tri-level or HD sync)  SN DX only has one sync input which will accept black burst or Tri-level depending on the project I guess.  59.94 projects and SD projects including 23.976 NTSC want black burst.  In the case of HD 23.976 it wants Tri-level 23.98 Psf.  I haven't found a scenario or tape machine that wants 23.98 P tri-level sync.  HDCam SR, DVC Pro HD and D-5 all want 23.98 Psf tri-level as they are all recorded Psf to tape.  Perhaps if the HDCam SR deck is in a true Progressive mode, which I've never used, then the SN DX would want 23.98P Tri-level.  This raises the question in my head, does SN ever output or input a true progressive signal or does it always work with Psf?
