    The future of Deko

    Hi all,

As many of you know, I started full time with Avid as a Deko product specialist last year after working as a freelance trainer since the early days of FXDeko.  During this past year one of the questions I was asked frequently was “Is Avid committed to Deko?”.  My feeling was yes – why would they hire me full time rather than continuing to use me on a per diem freelance basis if they were not committed to the product?  But I was not in a position to make claims based on anything but my feelings.

This week I am attending my first Worldwide Sales Conference for Avid in LA.  And to my delight a commitment to Deko and Avid’s On Air Graphics has been a stated part of the new Avid strategy.

This is something that many of you who are already using Deko knew.  If you’ve had a chance to see the new features of Deko version 5, with power clips, auto-motion and motion-in-motion, and if you have heard about the upcoming release of version 5.2 incorporating FBX and Collada 3D model import, as well as new continuous motion features, you know Deko is a product that is moving forward.  The difference for me is this: while Deko has been on the roadmap for Avid during the past years, the corporate commitment had not been clearly stated.  That has changed with Avid’s focus on the customer and the solutions you need.  Deko and On Air Graphics is now a stated part of our strategy.

And one more bit of news - if you are a Deko3000 user who would be interested in being a beta site for the new 5.2 features please let me know.
