IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: This forum is moving!!!!!!!!!!

    Locked Contact

The new Avid Liquid forum is now up and running on the Pinnacle website. The current forum will soon be made read only so it is time for everyone to migrate over to the new board. If you had a previous Pinnacle sign in (from either Studio or Pinnacle Edition) that should still work over there. If not, just create a new sign in. The new Avid Liquid board is located here.

This was discussed in Marianna's release which is reproduced below:

There has been a new development with regards to the Liquid Family of products.  Avid is transitioning the management of the Avid Liquid product line to Pinnacle Systems, the company’s consumer division. This change affects all current Avid Liquid products: Avid Liquid software, Avid Liquid Pro and Avid Liquid Chrome Xe.

There are a number of reasons that Avid believes that we can better serve the needs of Avid Liquid users and maximise the potential of Avid Liquid through the Pinnacle division.Avid Liquid’s product development has always been handled by Pinnacle, with the development team that created the original Liquid software residing in Germany. It makes more business sense to have all aspects of the product line (marketing, sales and development) within one division. The product development of Avid Liquid will benefit greatly from this change. With a renewed focus of the development team at Pinnacle, Pinnacle can take optimal advantage of the development of the consumer product line and leverage the recent innovations for future versions of Avid Liquid.

Also, when Pinnacle Studio users are ready to migrate to a more powerful and professional editing solution, Avid Liquid is the ideal choice for them. With Avid Liquid’s availability within the Pinnacle channel, Avid can take maximum advantage of this sales potential.

Many of you will ask, what is the future of Liquid?

Avid has demonstrated its commitment to investing in and enhancing the Avid Liquid product family. The recent release of version 7.2 (which has received rave reviews from many of you and the installed base) and the introduction of a brand-new product, Avid Liquid Chrome Xe are both examples of this.  Going forward, the Pinnacle division expects to demonstrate the same kind of commitment to the Avid Liquid product family, with the renewed focus on Avid Liquid in that division.

You next will ask “What is happening to the Liquid forums?”

The Avid Liquid forums will be transferred to the Pinnacle website in the future.  Pif and Kevin are investigating ways to capture all the content that currently resides on and transition it to site.  They are in discussions with the pinnacle web team on this and will have some idea of the transition time within the next few weeks. For the time being though, the forums will continue to be supported and moderated by Avid Video without any changes at the current locations on the Avid website

As for the Chrome Xe forum, Avid has discussed the creation and they have indicated they would like to implement this new forum once the transition takes place and start the from scratch on  This should occur when the overall transition takes place in the near future.

Avid continues to view the Independent Production market, of which Liquid is part, as a vital market for our long-term success. We also want to continue our approach of not simply providing point products, but complete and integrated solutions that fulfill all aspects of the daily job requirements of any content creator. We feel that we continue to be the company that is best placed in this market to provide these solutions, due to the breadth of our organization with dedicated divisions to cover every level of the independent content creation market.

Personally, I think this is a good move for the future of Liquid.
