Ok, pity we must have to wait that long, Vista seems to handle digital stuff very well, much better than xp.

    Vista is going in Studio

I am still waiting for the stuff to the new machine, was promised to have it all 14 days ago, should have order it from tiger direct instead.

Meanwhile, I have done some tests on an old machine, now with new opsystem Vista RC1 32 bits.

AL was not able to install.

Studio 9 was not able to install.

Studio 8 was not able to install.

Studio 7, however, install perfect with smart sound,  titledeko and hfx editor, everything works as it once did in the program except for the old classic clip " a day in the zoo" .

That clip shows only audio, even when I play it in with media player, seems that the old first avi-version from studio not is playable any more but most of us knew that before.

The AVI-files made by liquid is fully playable and loadable, automatic scene detction works well and transitions works very nice, so also smart sound.

The machine is a p4 2,4 dual core ht 1 gb memory and ATI 9800 gr, card.

    More to tell later.

This was exiting, I am currently running an NLE in Vista, just made an mpeg-2 file for dvd from an AVI file made from liquid, 18 minutes AVI,  took 12 minutes for this machine to make that file.

Re: Ok, I will build one more machine, how about this?

I am really feeling sorry for the Liquid developers with the release Vista around the corner.  I don't know if version 8 will run on both XP and Vista, but if it does I don't even want to think about what they will have to do to keep the versions in sync with each other.  New drivers, new issues.  Plus mutli-core is going beserk and HD is taking off  in an big way and you have a need for huge development sizes.  This will really make the Database engine in Liquid work!  Then you have the two new DVD formats which are not very compatible with each other at ANY level.  Oh, and then there is the upgrade path and what will happen if I want to take my exisiting DVD project and burn it to Blue Ray and then HD-DVD.  Version 7 was a nice easy walk in the park compared to what Version 8 will have to deal with Smile [:)]

Good to hear whoever I won't say that until we are on the version that will be released. I did a big project earlier this year to upgrade a large Win2000 application to XP and prepare for Vista. It worked great on XP, no issues or changes requried. On Vista it seemed to work ok but when one looked closer there were definite issues with Vista related to Ole intergration and background processing. I filled a number of Vista bugs with Microsoft but I also rewrote the code to correct the problem so there would be no issue. The security models around Vista's core are much much much tighter and pickier and it can have unexpected results. I'd most be concerned when Liquid has to call other programs like TitleDeko or others as places where odd behaviour may crop up, hopefully it won't. I'd certainly hope that version 8 sees the light of day before Vista is out.

Don't count on it. No, I do not have any inside information on this so it is just speculation. I'll stop there. My hope would be that Liquid 8 will be totally ready for Vista. My belief is that it will be tested on Vista and read to Rock and Roll.

I don't think there will ever be any support for XP 64.

XP 64 at this point is a product most will never use. However there will need to be support for 64 Bit Vista at some point if Liquid is to remain a viable product. If you look at MS's roadmap they intend 64 Bit Vista to be norm in the near future (and 32 bit the exception for older machines.) To get your hardware certified for Vista it has to have drivers for both 32 and 64 bit.

Re: And here is the interesting part, nvidia vs ati

So those show-stoppers are not your ATI card - they seem to be present with the 7800 as well - a problem with the core 2 duo? That's odd. Let us know if you fix the show stoppers...

Re: And here is the interesting part, nvidia vs ati

I´ll try with some new bios abd so, let you know.

Meanwhile, study this from the textfile, it is the same show-stoppers on both cards but if it is better to have a higher percentage. the ATI card is much better than nvidia and very close (99,6 %) in 2 cases.

compare results  nvidia at the top:
