    Avid GPU Performance

    Hi Everyone

I'm hoping to get a bit of advice.

I've just upgraded my computer to the latest Intel 10-core CPU with 32GB RAM, SSD scratch drive and a 10TB RAID 0 media drive.

I decided to stick with the Quadro K620 I had in my last build.

My question is, for general editing (no heavy effects, just 1080/4K documentary style editing), will upgrading the GPU to a P2200 or similiar actually improve performance?

From my understanding, Avid mainly uses the GPU for effects rather than playback so I'm not sure upgrading would be of benefit.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Its playback of realtime effects that you get any benefit from a better GPU.

I'd go with what you have and see how it works out.

K620 here and it's fine for ordinary editing, anything with multiple effects needs some renderings.
