    EDL beginner - how do I import this?

    Hi folks!

    Lots of editing experience but I've never used EDLs so I hope you can help.

    I have a very very simple test EDL exported from the very good online transcription tool Trint.  It just a test with 3 clips:

    Here it is:

    TITLE: Editing_test

    FCM: NON-DROP FRAME

    001 AX AA/V  C         00:01:21:810 00:01:43:380 00:00:00:00 00:00:21:570

    * FROM CLIP NAME: 00004.MTS

    002 AX AA/V  C         00:00:36:870 00:01:04:920 00:00:21:570 00:00:49:620

    * FROM CLIP NAME: 00004.MTS

    003 AX AA/V  C         00:00:40:210 00:01:05:69 00:00:49:620 00:01:14:479

    * FROM CLIP NAME: 00001.MTS

    004 AX AA/V  C         00:01:47:290 00:02:10:710 00:01:14:479 00:01:37:899

    * FROM CLIP NAME: 00001.MTS

    So I open the project in Avid which is AMA linked to the footage used in the EDL.  I use "Input>Import EDL in Avid (latest version) and get the dialogue asking me to specify frame rate, project type and audio mapping.  It seems whatever I set these to I can't get it to import properly and it just imports an empty sequence.

    I have more info from the Console etc, but am I missing something really basic?   Is the EDL generated by Trint even the right format?

    Thanks

    Simon

    Your sources appear to be in thousands of a second rather than frames, which is fine for subtitles but will throw out errors on an edl.

    Edit: FWIW your list will open successfully in Premiere.  However, I can not bring it into Avid from there using any of the regular methods.

    The EDL you pasted here is not in hh:mm:ss:ff, as mentioned. But on top of that, the source for each clip is AX, meaning an Auxilary source, not a source file or tape source, so there's nothing MC can link to.
