Re: Windows 10 1809 Feature Update - Not supported at this time

In the past I have asked for Avid to specify which version of windows (the 4 digit number) is reccomended and got no response.

Even the way its written in the readme doesnt make sense: "Windows v10 64-bit (Professional, Creators, and Enterprise)."

Why the "and" when saying edition, build, edition

    creators (1703 i think)

        /\

    pro  enterprise

And there are many professional and enterprise builds.

Instead you should say 1703 pro, and 1703 enterprise if this is what you reccomend.

Hi, how fast will you test this?

Do anyone know if 1809 is rolled out automaticly?

There's also a bug in this version that can delete files on your hard drive in certain situations.

Microsoft have reportedly pulled the plug on this update.

Not sure as that depends on what they find while testing it.  Yes it was rolled out automatically starting Oct 2nd

Re: Windows 10 1809 Feature Update - Not supported at this time

Is there any new information on this topic?  Yesterday I had a bit of a panic when my computer alerted me to an update ready to install.  I had paused updates some time ago but Windows 10 only allows a 30-day pause before launching the update.  The latest update was 2018-1803, I re-paused updates for another 30 days.  After searching the Internet for another method to stop updates I found that you could go into Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Updates and disable updates, has anybody tried this?  Just looking for some direction.

    Thanks!

Re: Windows 10 1809 Feature Update - Not supported at this time

Regardless of what Microsoft might say, I would wait for the OK from someone at Avid (eg. Marianna) before you allow any updates to be performed.

There are various ways to stop updates completely that float around on the internet, but I would recommend you use something called 'Shutup10' from O&O. This bit of software will give you full control over which functions are allowed in Win 10 - including disabling lots of data collection routines that potentially compromise your privacy.

It's portable software, so it doen't need installing and has restore points, so you can always go back and undo changes.

    Use this link...
