I'm using 2018.3.0, should I be able to AMA link this footage or do I need to transcode?
I'm getting the message "can't be linked" in the Source Browser window.
Clips are good; they play fine in QT and import into Premiere Pro.
I have the CanonRaw and CanonXF plugins installed.
Yes they should link, I’m on the same MC version and I notice the same behaviour “can't be linked “ however I just control click (Mac OS) on the “ can’t be linked and from the contextual menu choose link with QuickTime. They link fine. Multiples can be selected and “linked with-“ in one click.
you may still need to trancode though as MC needs a lot of cpu to edit with mp4 natively.
Perfect, thank you!
EDIT: Actually that doesn't work for me. When I sleect 'QuickTime' it retries but returns to "can't be linked.."
I'm on Sierra and not High Sierra...I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Are the canon 5d files h264 with a .mov extension?
i don’t know if Sierra or high Sierra would make a difference, certainly I worked on canon5d footage when I was on Sierra and they linked.
have you tried the opt drag link process? (Have both an avid bin and a finder window open, click and hold, on a .mov file in the finder then hold down the opt key and drag to an avid bin)
If you want to share a small file I could try my link process here. - M
Thanks for your help.
Yes, they are h264 with .mov. I tried the opt drag and nothing happens.
I've uploaded one of the files and I'll send you the link.
I see what it is now. They guy who put the media on the drive put a "/" in some of the directory names.
AMA doesn't like that.
great you got it sorted!
