problems with multigroup clips in 2018.5

I'm having a problem where once I edit with a multigroup clip, it inserts into the timeline as the subgroup segment instead of the multigroup.  The result is that (a) the name of the subgroup is displayed in the timeline instead of the more informative multigroup name, and (b) matching back from my edit sequence gives me the subbroup instead of the multigroup clip.  Is this a bug with the newer versions of Avid or is there some way to fix it?

Never mind, problem solved.  The AE was making one long multigroup of the entire day and then subclipping them into scenes and naming it a multigroup--so what he had labelled as a multigroup was actually a subgroup.  Didn't realize it until I noticed the dot missing from the multigroup icon.
