Would anyone be willing to post an example of how they have their Domain Name Service setup?
There are three fields:
DNS Domain, DNS Server List, and DNS Search list
My plan is to use avidstorage.local as the domain.
I've read the instructions but I'm a little confused.
Hi,
All three fields are empty on my setup.

What are you trying to achieve?
Who/what will act as the DNS server?
You usually do not need a DNS to run a simple ISIS/Nexis network. For more complex network configuration (internet, multiple subnets, etc.etc.) then it will make more sense.
DNS Server list = the IP of all the servers that will resolve DNS request
DNS Search list = which devices that will be part of this group that the server will respect DNS requests. In your case it will be all your edit computers, Nexis server and other peripheral devices (encoding stations, archiving computer, etc.).
You usually don't use .local as you DNS suffix. You create a new one like .xxxnexis
Using common suffix can create issues and conflicts.

I just wanted to set it up with a name we could use instead of remembing the number, but if that requires adding a DNS server to the network then yeah, not worth it. Thanks.
Yes, it's not worth it if you just want a simple hostname to remember. You will complicate your network and every device configuration.
