Media Composer v8.9.4 -- NOW AVAILABLE

Avid is pleased to announce the release of Media Composer v8.9.4.

The latest update to Media Composer is available worldwide as of December 4, 2017 from the Avid Download Center or through the Application Manager.

The ability to launch Media Composer software is dependent on the status of the customers Upgrade and Support Plan on the date this software version was released.

     - Please read the How to Update Your License page before upgrading to this release.

     - More detailed information is also available on the Upgrade and Support Plan FAQ page.

    New in this release includes:

    - Go to Next/Previous Event: The Rewind and Fast Forward buttons have been renamed and have new icons to reflect what the buttons actually do. The options in the Settings > Composer > Move tab control how the position indicator moves when you use these buttons.

    - Searching for Items in the Timeline:
With this release, when you search for items in the Timeline, the Find window will display the Timeline elements matching the search text.

    - Mapping Bin Fast Menu Commands to the Keyboard: You can map bin fast menu commands to the keyboard.

    - Support for Playback of 4 Streams of XAVC-I: This release of the editing application supports playback of 4 streams of XAVC-I in an UHD 59.94p project.

This update includes 30+ bug fixes, including:

    - Only the topmost clip of a group clip retained its LUT. All clips in a group clip now retain their LUT.
    - If you pressed the Enter key on the numeric keypad after renaming a track, the Rename dialog box would not close.
    - While in the Effect Editing workspace, the editing application crashed when undoing changes in a Paint or AniMatte effect.

On Mac systems with this release, the Avid DX Driver is not automatically installed when you install the editing application. If you need to install the Avid DX Driver to work with your Avid IO device, during the installation process, click the Media Composer Editing Application opener and choose the Avid DX Driver and click Continue. If you do not install the driver during the installation process, you can access the installer in Applications > Utilities > Avid Utilities.

This release now supports macOS 10.13.1 (High Sierra), as well as 10.12.6 (Sierra), 10.11.6 (El Capitan) and 10.10.5 (Yosemite).

The What's New and ReadMe for this version can be found on the Avid v8.x Documentation page.

If you have any comments or questions regarding the installation of this version, please post it here.  For other bugs or questions, please start a new thread.
