    Hello Mario,

It's best to review the systems requirements here, This will give you an idea what MC needs for optimal performance and reliability. Hopefully someone with the same machine specs step in and share their overall  experience with MC.

    Good Luck,

    Ralph

Did some checking Mario and our hardware guys say....

The Processor is only dual core i7 (Intel gen 4).  Avid min spec is quad core i7 so that is underpowered by 2x.

The graphics card is a mid range consumer laptop card.  These are not qualified and will not be enabled for GPU acceleration.  Avid specs and qualifies only the professional cards so I can’t tell you how well that would work.

This laptop is definitely underpowered for HD editing.  Transcode will take a LONG time and some effects will not play in real time.

    Not recommended.

New systems shipping from HP have the intel 6th gen processors.  Look for quad core i7 with 16 GB mem.  Skip the graphics card altogether unless they are selecting Nvidia Kepler or Maxwell cards (K2000m, K3000m, k4000m, k5000m, m2000m, m3000m, m4000m, m5000m).

    Re: Suggestion for new laptop

    Hi Mario,

I just got an Asus N551JQ laptop from Newegg.  I added another 8 gigs for ram which brought me to 16 gigs.  I will be replacing the hard drive with a 1 TB size, and that brings me to well under the $1K mark.   It runs MC 8 without issues.

Anyway do you have any advice on specific laptops I can buy for less than 900 euros and be sure avid mc will work fine?

    Thanks

    Re: Suggestion for new laptop

    Hello Mario,

Sorry to disappoint you. Our hardware expert informed me that The A10-7300 is an AMD processor which has never been tested by anyone at AVID, this is not supported, better safe than sorry. Keep hunting I'm sure you will get one that's bang for the buck.

    Good luck,

    Ralph

    Re: Suggestion for new laptop

    Hello Mario,

Further information from our hardware experts. To meet the min specs requirement, check out the latest from HP. Note that this has NOT been qualified by Avid (not a workstations laptop) but it does meet the min specs and should be OK to run MC.

HP ENVY - 15t Slim Quad Windows 7 Laptop with

    6th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ Quad Core Processor + Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 (launched Q3 2015) 8GB DDR3L System Memory (1 Dimm) – or 16GB DDR3L System Memory (2 Dimm)   - do NOT choose the 12GB option as performance will suffer 15.6-inch diagonal Full HD WLED-backlit IPS Display (1920x1080) 1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive   For $749.99
     Hope this helps.
    Good luck, Ralph
