    AMT Interlaced DNxHR Pass Through Initialization Crash Problem

    When the compression is interlaced DNxHR HQ, initializing amtSession for pass-through mode (call “CreateAmtFile” with NULL external_media_properties), crashes. If the compression is progressive DNxHR HQ, call succeedes without a crash.

    AMT sdk version is 2.12.3.964 and used with ms vs 2010.

    Thank you in advance for your kind concern.

    The media_properties xml is below:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?>

    <AmtMediaAttributes>

    <format>

    <mediaFormat>Compressed</mediaFormat>

    <signalStandard>SS_274M_I</signalStandard>

    <dropFrame>kAVXFalse</dropFrame>

    <compressionType>Avid::DNxHR HQ</compressionType>

    <componentBits>8</componentBits>

    <chromaSubSampling>CSS_4220</chromaSubSampling>

    </format>

    <timecode>01:00:00:00</timecode>

    <bitRateMode>CONSTANT BIT RATE</bitRateMode>

    <framesPerSecond>25</framesPerSecond>

    <storedHeight>540</storedHeight>

    <storedWidth>1920</storedWidth>

    <audioTracks>2</audioTracks>

    <audioBits>16</audioBits>

    <audioBitRate>48000</audioBitRate>

    <audioCompressionType>Avid::WAVE::Uncompressed</audioCompressionType>

    <extendedAttributes>

    </extendedAttributes>

    </AmtMediaAttributes>

    Re: AMT Interlaced DNxHR Pass Through Initialization Crash Problem

    Hello,

    The amt specification above seems to be invalid, DNxHR HQ picture HxW are 2160x4096. Where does it come from?

    More importantly there are no interlaced formats available for DNxHR

    Thanks

    Re: AMT Interlaced DNxHR Pass Through Initialization Crash Problem

    Hello,

    Thank you for your prompt reply.

    In DNxHD sdk, it is not clear about DNxHR limitations therefore we assumed, we can use DNxHR in HD formats as well (this is a codec id from sdk DNX_HQ_1080i_COMPRESSION_ID).

    As stated in the link that you mentioned above, for HD formats we still use DNxHD, and 2K and above we use DNxHR. Could you please confirm ?

    Thank you.

    Re: AMT Interlaced DNxHR Pass Through Initialization Crash Problem

    Hi msh,

    Your assumption is correct. DNxHR is a separate encoding scheme that is resolution independent so you can specifiy width and height but interlaced scan is not available.  Media Composer limits the DNxHR encoding choice to >HD project types such as UHDTV1, 2k, 4k and Custom >HD projects so DNxHR support in current Avid products is >HD only. For DNxHR media to work in an Interplay 3.3 context, you MUST specify an UHDTV1 (3840x2160) resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 8bit (for HQ) or 12bit (for HQX) sample depth; 10bit HQX is not supported.

    Hope this answers your question.

    Andy
