Avid 8 not reading Avid 7 EQ audio plugins :-(

Just resurecting a Nov 2014 timeline cut on V7 and V8.3 doesnt like one of the RTAS timeline audio plugins: " Unavailable Effect : EQ 3 4-Band           (EQ 3 4-Band ### RTAS: Mono EQ ### RTAS) (audio.rtas.1147758441.876045619.879062386)".

I dont think V8 has this exact same 4 band plugin (my favourite go-to EQ for a quick bit of bass rolloff and adding lower mid voice punch).  Its not a disaster but I wish it would just take it and save me half an hour checking the mix etc.

    Is there any solution?

    Cheers

Check page 3 of MC 8.1 What's New PDF

It is an intentional result caused by the migration to 64 bit AAX plugin.

No replacement for these RTAS plug-ins: Extra Long Delay II, Long Delay II, Medium
Delay II, Short Delay II, Slap Delay II, EQ3 4-Band, Phase Scope, SurroundScope

Other than using another plugin? Mixing it down?

Thanks Dom - no workaround possible.

Will delete old incompatible EQ and insert new similar EQ - glad it was just me as another editor may have had no clue what 'unknown' meant - obviously!!!

They should have kept all legacy plugins compatible though - wasnt a big stretch to include a 4 Band Eq surely, compared to the pain it could cause us editors on dozens of sequences?Angry

    Thanks again.

Hi.  Probably too late for you now, but MC 8.0 has the old audio plugins.  I'm holding back on an upgrade until a proper replacement for Multi-Tap Delay is available.  Mod Delay doesn't do the same thing - it's more a music delay with BPM.  No good for characters yelling out in a valley or adding a small off screen room echo.  Unfortunate because there are some handy extras in 8.2 and up that I want to begin using - not till my next project, I suspect...

Sorry I didn't notice your post earlier

Cheers Jonno.  This month has been 'you know that edit you did for us last year' resurections.  Must have had to 'guess' the plugin EQ about 30 times - arghhh!
