REQUEST for INFO : Regular Expressions

    Good Day
    MAM Friends

Is there a Config somewhere within MAM Adminsuite that will allow for a Facility to not accept certain characters within End-User Input-Fields (ie &, : @ \ \ etc)?

Re: REQUEST for INFO : Regular Expressions

    Hello Joe,

There's no easy configuration option for that. I can think of two different ways to implement a workaround but both have their disadvantages.

1.) It is possible to implement a plug-in module for MAM DataManagerWS that checks the validity of the input. The disadvantage is that this causes an implementation effort and likely a maintenance effort in case of future updates of the system.

2.) It is possible to add Javascript code to a meta data template or to individual fields of a meta data template. That Javascript code could e.g. prohibit entering invalid characters. The disadvantages are that it's rather difficult to implement because you need to know the details of the generated HTML page (e.g. the IDs used for the UI elements for the different attributes). It won't work in the Interplay Cataloger. It's a rarely used feature so it isn't tested as well as other parts of MAM. And finally, errors in the Javascript code will break the meta data pages.

There's an additional option in case of processes in MAM. You can modify the process to launch a SWoDL script that checks the user input and stops execution if necessary.

So, I'm afraid, there's no easy way.
