Hi, I noticed one problem with Mavericks: the new Full Screen system when using two monitors. It seems that for Mavericks any application is supposed to use only one monitor. So when I start an application like Avid (but it's the same with Final Cut Pro or Resolve), all the windows I set up to be on the second monitor come back to the first monitor, which is quite annoying. I know there is no support for Mavericks yet, but I was wondering if you were aware of that problem and if there will be a fix in next update. Best, Matthieu.

Re: Mac OS X 10.9 (Maverick) | Support for MC, PT and Sibelius

    Matthieu

I dont have Mavericks installed yet on my system so I asked the test guys to check it as they are in the final stages of 7.0.3 testing.

Dave tried this on his MacBook Pro with HDMI out to Dell monitor.  He is running MAC OS 10.9 with MC 7.03 pre-release.

He was able to move the bin window over to the Dell monitor and relaunched the app. The bin window stayed on the Dell monitor.

He then moved the desktop video and timeline to the Dell monitor and relaunched the app.  Again, no problems. The timeline and desktop video stayed on the Dell monitor (vs the laptop display).

Not sure if this was fixed in MC 7.0.3 app or the MAC OS.

    7.0.3 is coming folks... soon.

    Hi Matthieu,

It's not a bug, it's a change in the way apple handles full screen apps (which was requested by many users). To change it back to the way lion and mountain lion handled full screen apps do the steps below:

    1. From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
    2. Click Mission Control.
    3. Deselect the option for "Displays have separate Spaces."
    4. Log out and then log back in again.

    Hi dklein,

Thanks for this. I didn't know it could be fixed like this. That's working now, but then, there is no more top bar on every monitor (the bar with File, Edit...), which I was just starting to get used to it and I quite like it actually.

If you could keep the option "Displays have separate Spaces" and Avid keeping windows in separate monitors or spaces, it would be great. But maybe it's not possible to do that with Mavericks.

Re: Mac OS X 10.9 (Maverick) | Support for MC, PT and Sibelius

I don't get it, dklein.  I'm running Mavericks, and when I choose Mission Control in System Preferences, I get the following choices (to check or uncheck):

    - Show Dashboard as a space

    - Automatically rearrange spaces based on most recent use

    - When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for the application

    - Group windows by application

Why can't I see the 'Displays have separate spaces' option?

    What am I missing?

    Thanks very much, Malcolm

It should be right below group windows by application.

Re: Mac OS X 10.9 (Maverick) | Support for MC, PT and Sibelius

Yes, d, my mistake!  I'm running Mavericks on my nearby MBP (that I only use for editing when travelling) and still have Mountain Lion on my editing machine, a Mac Pro.  I was confused between the two.

I will remember your instructions for my (imminent, I hope) upgrade to Mavericks on my Mac Pro.

Of course, this is going to happen just when Apple releases 10.9.1 (which Avid won't support for a while, I imagine) but that's life.

Thanks for this advice re the multi-monitor fix...
