    Thats exactly what I did.

If you click in the App Store, the donwload starts to your application folder...
After the download is finished a window opens aksing you if you want to install.

At this point you can quit the installer.

Then you can take the installer out of the application folder.

Once you want to update, just double click...

Did that but didn't find it in the applications folder -- where is it supposed to be, precisely?

Try a search / Find for the installers file name "Install OS X Mavericks".  It was in the Applications folder here

Apple just shared Develepoer Version of Mavericks 10.9.1, so its go out in few days/weeks. When we can except Media Composer for 10.9.0? I'm confused, becouse i get new mac and must used FCP7.... And I don't wanna even think wen we can except support for 10.9.1... Why Adobe never had issue with it?

Usually dot zero versions, be it Avid, Apple or Adobe, are no perfect versions, the ones using those are all of them more or less unpayed beta testers.

With Avid and Adobe you have the option to choose yourself if you want to use ( = install ) a dot zero version or not.

Why Apple doesn´t have that same policy might be a question to aim directly to them, I don´t think that the Avid boards are going to give you all the answers you want to have.

Re: Mac OS X 10.9 (Maverick) | Support for MC, PT and Sibelius

    Marianna,

I was hired to start an AVID project on Dec 16. I have an iMac with Mavericks and I need to purchase AVID software.  Will a new version of Media Composer 7 that is completely compatible with Mavericks be available before Dec 16? If it is not, should I run Windows on my Mac and use the Avid PC version for now? Should I download the free 30 day trial for PC to use until the new Mac version is out? Are PC & Mac projects compatible when emailed back and forth to clients?

    Thanks

    Sara

Avid cannot comment on when releases will be available.  "soon" is the only answer you'll get.

Running Avid on Windows on Mac has had mixed results.  search the forums for answers.

Yes, bins and projects are fully compatible when transferred between PC and Mac.  It's probably best to zip them if you're going to email them.

Bought a new retina macbook pro, guess I'm screwed.

64 bit, GPU acceleration, better AMA, better exports with GPU acceleration, better grading with true secondary and lift gamma gain, higher resolutions (4K, 5K etc.) and a video stream online (for directors being far away on the phone or skype).

That would blow ANY competition away and it will be future-proof MC for a long time.
