Updating Media Composer 5.5.3 to 6.5.3

Hello, I'm not sure which forum I should be posting this question in, but thought I would try here. I purchased an Educational Licenese for Media Composer 5.5.3 earlier this year for a project, but never ended up using this software to finish the project (stayed in FCP). I now have a new computer with Mountain Lion and need MC 6.5.3 (for a new project). Is it possible to update my older Media Composer software? Or do you have to buy a completely new license? I could not find an answer to this question on the Avid site. Any help or guidance about where to look would be much appreaciated. Alice
