Adobe Media Encoder 5.5.1 as a Standalone with MXO2 Mini MAX

Hi, I'm using MC 5.5.3 with Matrox MXO2 Mini MAX, utils 5.5.1 on a Dell PC T5500.

I don't have Adobe Premier Pro or any Adobe programs installed that contain Media Encoder, and they are above my budget to purchase right now.

I see, however, that there is an Adobe Media Encoder 5.5.1 available for download on the Adobe Website.  If I install that on its own, can MXO2 Mini, after a fresh install, see it and use it for its encoding purposes?

If not, has anyone found a solution to this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Seamus

I'm not sure what version I have, but ME came with Master collection CS6. I use it with MXO2 mini with MAX and I love it. Much faster encoding. I got tired of constant crashes by Sorenson Squeeze.

That sounds great.  I presume, though, that you had to pay for ME and CS6?  It wasn't just a free download?

I talked to Avid, Matrox and finally Adobe and you are correct ME is not a separate DL anymore and you do have to be on version 6. I believe that Photoshop includes ME. This is a very sore point with me because this is not what we were led to believe when the mini/max was released.

Yes, I payed for the Master collection CS6, I was not aware of any free download.

Thanks for all the replies.  I'll just have to go with Sorensen Squeeze.  I'm not in a big hurry to encode at high speed anyway!
