What a shock and what a shame.

My thoughts go to his family and friends who I can only imagine must be in numeral.

I prefer not to think of the loss as the great deal he gave.

It's not what we take from this world that counts for anything, it's what we leave behind and his contribution to the community and wider speaks volumes.

Those that can make the service please remind his family that you represent hundreds of others who can't be there in person.

This is truly sad news. Larry was undoubtedly one of the most consistently helpful and generous contributors on this forum, and outside it. I had occasion to email him in the past and he was always helpful and gracious.

It is also amazing how this sad event demonstrates so clearly that the Avid Community is a community in much more than just name! Thank you Avid and especially Marianna for working so hard to make this such a welcoming and friendly place for all!

When I started reading my emails this morning, I just stopped. Stunned and shocked I could not believe what I read.

It will be some time before  I can gather my senses and write something in memory of Larry.
In the meantime I would echo everything that has been said (and will be said) about Larry in this thread and add a +1

He was always the first person to offer a helping hand and always followed up with you. Only knew of him via forum but have to believe he was one amazing man. Wish I could have met him and thanked him in person for the many times he provided insight.

    He will be missed.

Like Douglas -I havent been able to wrap my head around this news yet.   I have been numb all day.

I am sure as the news settles and I cry a few more times, I will be able to post to this thread how much Larry ment to ME and this Community.  Many of us here are friends first - peers /colleagues second.  That is a testiment to us all - and Larry lead that charge.

One thing I CAN SAY and really MEAN IT - he changed many of our lives for the better.

He was a fantastic guy who was always there for me personally, and the forum as a whole. This seems so unfair.  I can't believe he is gone.  He will be sorely missed.  I can't even imagine what his family is going thru.

May I offer my condolences to Larry's family and friends.

I never met Larry but he helped me countless times online with his thoughtful and patient advice.

I was always a little awestruck that someone with such a high-powered job found the time to offer such personal help and guidance.

The sign of a true gentleman, and a great loss to both this forum and I guess humanity at large.
