As I write this there are fifteen pages here of heart-felt tributes to Larry.  They're not obituaries written by some journalist who never knew him, these are from people all over the world whose lives have all been touched by this man.

That's probably the best tribute anyone could ever hope for.

    Re: In Memoriam Larry Rubin

Just accessed the forum to see the news of Larry's passing.  Apart from his obvious ability, skills and knowledge, if kindness and selflessness are a measure of a man's true worth, and I beleive they are, then we have lost a great man.

I'm a little surprised that I feel such shock & such loss at the passing of someone I never met or actually spoke to, but he greatly assisted me so many times, and his warmth really shone through.  He was very thorough too, would follow up to ensure he had really helped.  I saw this with so many others he helped also, back and forth posts on weekends etc.

Condolances to family and friends.  Rest In Peace Larry, we will really miss you.

Today is my weekly check in to the forum and I was extremely saddened by the news of Larry's passing. Every time I have posted a problem, I could be sure he would be one of the people replying. His replies were always helpful and whenever I responded with a post that the problem was solved, he'd usually make an encouraging and kind comment. What a gentleman!. Even though I never met him in person, my eyes well up with tears as I write. My world has been made that much poorer by your passing, Larry.

Very shocked by this. I just had an exchange with him a few weeks ago. Rest in peace, Larry. You will be missed.

So shocked to hear about Larry, when I came to this Forum he was one of the first to help me and continued to be helpful in so many ways. No matter how simple my questions were I knew he would treat me with respect. Miss you already Larry.

He was a giving and caring member of this community, and I'm sure that generosity and kindness existed in his real life too. This place is better because he was a part of it.

    Re: In Memoriam Larry Rubin

While reading the numerous posts about Larry, there is one thing that stands out to me. That is his respect, humility, kindness and genuine concern for others here on the forum. People can tend to hide behind their computers and display a condescending and sometimes sarcastic attitude toward others. In fact, in the early days of the forum, it was replete with profanity and downright hateful rhetoric. Unfortunately, this can be typical of forums in general. I know that Marianna has tried to select moderators who will maintain this respect and servant attitude towards others here. Larry Rubin did so naturally. There wasn't an unkind bone in his body and he never seemed to feel that he was above anyone else due to his exemplary knowledge and abilities One of the best ways we can honor the memory of Larry is to strive to carry on his heartfelt, selfless, encouraging and compassionate "modus operande." Let's honor the memory of this beloved man by striving to carry this forward...
