Footage fom Samurai Recorder as DNxHD workflow.

Has anyone work with the footage recording from the Samurai recorder? In my case, the footage was shot on Sony F-3 via the Samurai recorder. First of all...the 10 bits DNxHD footage only work in AMA mode...which requires transcoding. I have no idea how to bring the footage into Avid and cut them straight away. I could cut it from AMA but it gets really slow respond. Also I get the following alert on a few footage when I tried to transcode them.

    SWDC_CodeInterface_Task::Execute() CONSISTENCY CHECK FAILURE

As my understanding...the DNxHD files are Avid native files and I wouldn't have to do any transcoding. There is no ALE file that I can relink to the DNxHD files either.

I would really appreciate for any comments or advice.

    Thanks,

Did you try consolidating the files?

This was the workflow with DNxHD185X  media from an Alexa on a recent job, however we could not render any FX Same as source, as though there is something different about the media or metadata describing the media. Different camera, but perhaps the problem is related.

    Thank you David.

Actually your advice to consolidate is working for me now. I really appreciated.

    Have you tried quitting Avid.
Renumering a number 1 folder on your media trive to any other number.
Then making a new 1 folder and copying in 1 of the DNxHD files.

Open Avid. Do you see it scanning the 1 folder?

If so open the Media Tool, Select master clips only and find the clip you just put in the 1 folder (The most recent if media Tool is sorted by creation date)

Drag that clip into a bin and you have your media online.

Has anyone used footage from a Samurai in an Interplay environment? I was thinking the best way to get the footage in and Indexed would be via AMA>Consolidate, but I wanted to see what others were doing when faced with this scenario.

Grab the mxf files from the Sumarai drive and drag them into an AVID Media folder. Then open the media tool and select the new files (by date easeist) and drag them into a project binn. From then om they'll be linked to your project. No transcoding necessary.

That's new.  Previously importing media that way left the media unassigned to any project.  How long has that been the case?

Yeah I don't think that results in a project link but it should work to get your footage into a bin. The AMA > Consolidate path should be just as quick as a straight transfer and will result in a project link

Can we go back to the way audio nodes used to be selected? Please? ie if you have audio nodes at the same time on selected tracks; then selecting 1 audio node selects them all at that time. Having to shift select nodes or add an in and out is time consuming and counter productive. At least make it an option.
