iPhone 4 AMA problem (color channels wrong)

iPhone 4 AMA seems to work on my Mac, but if I AMA it on a PC I get a color shift (like RGB becomes GBR - the channels are all messed up).  Anyone else had this issue.  Any suggetsions?

I just encountered the same issue using MC 6.5 for Mac. Did you ever discover any solutions?

    Thanks,

Saw this on my MBP 10.7.5  and MC 6.0.x also. I don't have a solution either as I didn't pursue it much. I rarely use iPhone videos.

Re: iPhone 4 AMA problem (color channels wrong)

    Hi Dom,

Thanks for the reply. I managed to get it to work by using Adobe Premier (I hate to admit that). However, a client just gave me another iPhone movie this moring and I tried it again with Avid. To my surprise (and delight) it worked. It seems to me that the color gets messed up only if it was shot in portrait vs landscape mode. Just thought I'd add that to the common body of knowledge here.

Also, worth mentioning, the audio sync will noticibly drift if the clip is longer than 7 or 8 minutes. From what I've read, iPhone uses a variable framerate. I managed to fix this by using the free software called Handbreak and selected the "constant framerate" setting when I made the conversion.

    Cheers!

Great to know about landscape vs portrait. You are right, the couple of videos I had the issue where also in portrait mode.

Yes, iOS devices record fluctuate the frame rate in order to maintain PQ.

    thanks again!
